LSU junior CB Tharold Simon, junior S Eric Reid, and junior LB Kevin Minter are going to the draft. DL Mingo and Montgomery are going. Waiting DT Bennie Logan. DE Lavar Edwards is gone.

With LSU's offensive incompetence, the loss of at least half their defensive starters, and a bye week before the MSU-LSU matchup at DWS, this is looking more and more like a winnable game. On the other hand, they definitely have the ability to reload quickly and State has significant losses of its own.

I give us a 50% increase in the probability of a win. Now approaching 0.01983%

I like our chance against them next year better than I normally do...

That said, you can't consider their defensive "losses" like a normal teams -- Al and LSU don't rebuild, they just reload. Hopefully next year, I'm wrong on that -- because their defense this year was not even close to what they have fielded in the past.

I hope they don't reload with people we are recruiting. May they'll reload with Kimdeechy.

Pretty much

LSU would need to promise not to use more than 9 players at a time for me to ever feel optimistic going into the game.

I would guess they are about to get into the Chris Jones sweepstakes also.

I guess we will see how much of a lock he is after he starts taking visits.

Actually, i don't know. i don't have access to any pay sites, but i am sure he he is going to visit Bama and OM at a minimum. All the hype he has gotten at the UA game is going to have all the big boys foaming at the mouth. I think if i were a State fan, i would have preferred that Jones had stayed under the radar and stayed the hell away from the UA game. It could turn out to be nothing, but he would have been much easier to keep locked down if he had stayed out of the spotlight.

Ha, OM and "big boys" in the same post got a chuckle

He has one visit scheduled, and it's to us. He has said many times that he is committed to us. According to rosebowl just now he refuses to talk to any media, and I'd be willing to bet that it is because of the Talty thing. Quit worrying, he is ours.

Doubt it. Even if you guys get a high ranked class, we'll be close by and neither of us will turn it into more than 9 wins and then switch places in a few years. If you really get upset on signing day you need to check yourself. Which you probably should do.

Spoken like a person that's becoming alot less confident about his own little signing day party.

When was Nkemdiche and Conner supposed to commit again?

I wouldn't say that. If you lose Chris Jones, your class will be nothing. If we sign just a couple of the guys we are in on, our class will be near top 10 and if Freeze has done nothing else, he has shown he can recruit. Why would you believe that Mullen will out recruit him in a few years if he can't do it now?

And yes, i don't normally get all crazy about recruiting, but the class we are working on would be something that has never happened at OM, so if it turns to ****, i will be extremely disappointed and don't mind saying so.

Winning teams are built with good players. You can convince yourself that your coach can find a bunch of diamonds in the rough and coach them up, but that isn't going to happen enough to make you competitive. It just means you got lucky and found a guy no one knew about. You will never build a team like that.

Exactly, they are concerned and their attendance on this board confirms it.

Hell yes i am concerned. This is recruiting we are talking about.

Until we have LOI's in hand, i don't trust any of it, ever. I do think we get RN, but after that, i wouldn't bet a penny towards getting a single other person on our list. Anyone who would is a fool.

And you ask about being concerned with lack of commitments? Commitments don't amount to a hill of beans. I couldn't care who is committed. All i care about is signatures on LOI's.
