we were band for two years from bowl games and lost four scholarships. Were we found to have lack of institutional control or the reason for the band on bowl games and lost of scholarships the result of being a repeat offender? The reason I as is, they are saying that OSU most likely not lose scholarships or have a bowl band because no school has never lost scholarships when there was not the lack of institutional control. Is that correct?

The coach covered up the infractions and then lied about it. I would think that is the definition of lack of institutional control.

The OSU AD was on Jack Arute and Mike Leech radio show yesterday. He said they have not been charged with lack of institutional control. He said there are only two formal charges to be addressed with the NCAA on Aug. 12. Although the investigation is on going more formal charges are possible. They changed Tressell's status from resigned to retired so he would be eligible for certain retirement benefits. Waved the $250K fine since Tressell had been penalized enough by loss of job and millions in earnings. AD said he did nothing wrong, didn't know anything about the players taking stuff and he did not deserve to be fired.

being exhibited on this board, let me bring some clarity:

[Typed Slowly]: THE ARTICLE DESCRIBES THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY'S SELF-IMPOSED PENALTIES. The NCAA has not determined what penalties, if any, it will levy against the tOSU athletic department/athletic programs/athletic interests/formerly affiliated coaches/boosters. SELF-IMPOSED means imposed by self; i.e., penalties imposed by tOSU against tOSU. Imagine someone taking a ruler and slapping themselves on the wrist. This is what tOSU has done.

it's that no one beyond Tressel knew about the problems. Since no administrators were aware, that means there was no LOIC. At face value, I agree.
BUT, I'll be disappointed if the vacated wins arethe only punishment, though. The NCAA would in essence be saying that if a coach knows of wrongdoing and hides it, the only potential negative impacts will be giving up wins and the risk to his own current job.
Throw in:
1. The issue that alumni are reporting infractions directly to a coach and no one else.
2. There were far more players named later in the SI articlethan the school initially admitted, showing a lack of impetus in their internal investigation.
3. The whole Pryor car thing.

And you'd better get more than vacated wins. Otherwise it's just another indicator that the NCAA needs to go ASAP.

"professors" are willing to jump on a marine that has a little trouble with spelling ... they would be more likely to say "thanks for your service"

There's not too much anyone can say to hurt my feeling. Hell they are not doing anything I would not do.
