Has anyone else noticed this student section blazes through it and is at least 5 seconds faster than everyone else in the stadium?

Yes and it's terrible. Can one of the students on this board explain why in the hell you do this?

Never been discussed **

It's also not unique to us. Listen to LUS's fanz when they do the T-I-G-E-R-S spellout after a TD. They rush the E-R-S every time. And that's an awesome cheer. The problem is rhythmically challenged whiteness.

It doesn't happen in basketball games, and last year, it didn't seem to happen in the endzone seating (though admittedly, endzone students would start rushing to keep up).

Especially this past weekend. The whole thing was way off synch. And I don't think it's acoustics in the stadium either.

Wasn't this brought up last year by someone? I noticed it a lot last year and it sucks we can't all be on the same page about it. I guess during this off week, we need to get the students together and teach them properly

Spend of sound issue? The band plays the 2nd half of the Hey Song pointed at the student section, while the rest of the stadium waits for it to bounce off the student section and come to them.

This can cause a tare of several beats by itself.

Ahight, what we need is somebody to go to the student side and record the cheer to see if they're with the band then of do the same on the other side if the stadium.

I don't think it's the acoustics. They're saying it faster--not just ahead of--the rest if the stadium.

It sounds so bad from the west side.. We need to fix it or stop the cheer. It sounds like sh*t. It's embarrassing.

At the Troy game, I sat directly in front of the students in whatever section that is now. Definitely has nothing to do with the band... the students rush the ever living hell out of it. The band has been playing it on the field for several years and the first time we did it, it was noticed. Literally the rest of the east side and the west side is in time with the band and the students are blazing fast... have no idea why. I wish someone had an idea to correct it because it sounds like ****.

This is it. I sit right in front of the fence and it's on them. They have no concept of rhythm. Kind of like they have no concept of 3rd and 4th quarters

Sat in the student section Saturday and can guarantee that the students are a good 3-4 seconds ahead of the band every time

I think that one of the explanations that was given in one of the previous versions of this thread was that they rush so that they can get it done before the kick returner catches the ball on a kickoff. It still sounds like garbage on a kickoff, but they complete it almost exactly when a ball is caught on kickoffs (although still before the other 46,000 people in the stadium). Once they got that speed down, there are no adjustments that will be made ... they just go fast. Also, I agree with those that say acoustics have nothing to do with it. I think that the acoustics make it even more noticeable, but you can watch them shaking cowbells, etc. and see that they just go faster. Neighboring sections are both amused and frustrated with the cluster17 it has become.
