Cawood, have you been to Augusta National?

My first trip was in 1995 for Thursday round.
Jack Nicklaus was 55. I followed him all 18.
He eagled the 5th hole (par 4) and was tied for lead after the first round.
Unfortunately not. Wow, an eagle at 5?

Hell, three years later he finished 6th at age 58.

I may be better suited and may even enjoy more a practice round.

Actually I recommend the Tuesday Practice Round. (Wed afternoon has the Par 3, which is goofy golf)
1- Easy to scalp tickets on Washington Ave in Augusta
2- Arrive when it opens and explore the course
3- Stop and watch a few groups go by and move
4- About noon, find someone you want to follow for 18

Food is relatively cheap.
Get your hotel reservation an hour away (cheaper)

I’m going to go with a guy that’s been injured and been slightly under the radar for a while now. Brooks Koepka

Friend that worked the Tournament last year wont be used this year. Masters only using locals this year that they don’t have to find housing for.

Its a bucket list trip for sure so hopefully you can go down the road. Last time I went Paul Casey hit a hole-in-one on #12 during a practice round. Believe Ian Poulter was playing with him.

I considered working the Barbasol Open next year. They recommend volunteering at least 3 days which also includes the pro-am but you get a special pass for the day you don't work and a few other perks like free breakfast, lunch, a hat, shirt and a free round of golf at Keene Trace. The Volunteer package with a round of golf is $50 and the other package without the round of golf is $35. There are a lot of cool things you can do like track the balls for the shot tracing, announce the golfers at the tee box, mark balls that are hit off the fairway, register the golfers, etc.

Bucket List for certain. And this one is doable.

(As I said earlier), you can easily Scalp for Passes on Washington Road.

Caution: Sat/Sun passes are $1000+
But Tuesday Practice Round passes are under $100

I would love to go and take my daughter some time.

I‘ve done it at the Barbasol (shot tracker) and it was a complete disaster. The actual volunteer work was really cool (I worked a green) but most everything else was just poorly organized/ran... So much so that they seemed to really have a lot of trouble getting repeat volunteers. Hopefully the year off has given them more time to get things sorted out.

I am beginning to wonder if the practice round ticket lottery is rigged. We went in ‘03 and 07 and haven’t drawn a sniff since. Several people I know said they have been 5 and 6 years in a row and were not given the tickets. Oh well not much u can do but keep trying. Getting older now and would love to go just once with my sons.

I did the first year and worked a tee box and green area, and it was great. Thankfully I bailed early on the monsoon Sunday. The next year I had asked for a specific spot as a returning volunteer only to be told that was full, despite knowing they didn't have nearly enough returning people to help. I think Brooks losing the tourney didn't help in many ways.

Agreed. Can't wait for the featured group of:

Christiaan Bezuidenhout
Abel Gallegos
Lanto Griffin

That we'll get to watch if you have a Chromecast that you can cast from your phone, or watch on a laptop.

What a great setup!
