So, the video I posted is hit with a laughing emoji by one of the asshats here and I don't see how anything laid out in the video could be construed as being "funny". The sheriff in Alamance county has a history of racial bias and his force inciting the violence there. How is that funny?
When was this protest? I live in NC, and haven’t heard about this incident. I’m not saying it isn’t as bad as shown, but I’m a little skeptical, to be honest.
Seems to me that something is missing in this video that backs up their claim as being all innocent. Because in this day and time we are in, the media is just looking for reasons to crucify the police.

Again, having empathy isn't a liberal or conservative issue. It's about being a decent human being. Democracy Now posted an unbiased version of the events earlier in the broadcast. There are eyewitness accounts of what happened. A peaceful march to vote was interrupted by the police. The situation was elevated by their actions. People should be allowed to have peaceful gatherings, protests, and marches without the police escalation. People in this country are showing time and time again they lack empathy for certain groups of people and it's disgusting. There is no joke to be made of what happened. But I don't know why I am shocked when some here react so horribly.
If they were blocking traffic and refused to get off the road, they're not very innocent. And certainly not peaceful. That's the biggest problem in these situations. We have completely changed the definition of peaceful. The optics look bad and I have little doubt that the cops could have handled it better. But the narrative was set when the video starts. We're judging the REaction without fully knowing what led to it.
Does this also apply to all the Trump supporters blocking traffic in New Jersey and what happened with the Trump caravan in Texas on Saturday? Where are the cops when groups of Trump supporters are blocking traffic at the voting booths? Screaming and waving flags in their support of the great orange one is okay, right? It's just when the black people get upset, march, have peaceful gatherings or really anything that the cops need to show up, right? Or we need to then see the whole video because something had to have happened for the cops to react that way, right?

I think the cops probably overreacted and it was terrible optics. I particularly feel bad for the woman in the wheelchair. But I also have to ask, why make voting a spectacle? Why not just peacefully vote?

Alamance County Sheriff's department in the end is wrong here. It was peaceful, what's wrong with that? What is wrong with a peaceful demonstration to vote? The proper response is to not laugh at violence enacted upon a group of harmless people peacefully marching to vote. I just don't understand how this logic is lost on some. What are people suppose to do? They can't take a knee, they can't voice their opinion, they can't peacefully protest or march, what is it they should do? What will not make you uncomfortable? I've seen countless videos of children in Trump caravans and Trump blockades. I don't think it's a place for children, nor protests. However, a peaceful march to the polls to vote? That can be an inspiring act to witness as a young child. Now, it's just another sad part of our history with violence against black Americans.

I don't know, we would have to tackle it on a case by case basis. Both sides have a hearty percentage of loud mouth idiots, but I'd venture to guess one complies with direct police commands and one doesn't. One side doesn't verbally abuse police and scream in their face. One side usually has an issue with people involved actively breaking the law.
