on twitter. As sheepish as it sounds, players in high school and college read twitter and message boards, and when our fanbase shows that they don't support a decision like this, what makes you think our recruits will like the hire and want to stay on board?
I know that it is a Genespage/Spirit approach, but the fan base has to at least Appear on board and in full agreement with a hire like this for the betterment of the program. If we get everyone in the fan base and all of the recruits thinking this guy sucks and Stricklin made a bad hire, that just puts Ray at an even bigger disadvantage. Trust me, I understand that this hire causes moments of anger and frustration......and I would be lying if I said I didn't go through some negative comments with buddies on the phone after I heard about it, but for goodness sakes let's try to have the bitchfests over the phone instead of on a public site where everybody can see it. Myself included.
This board, to its' credit, has become the biggest message board for MSU sports. And the biggest reason is the openness to any opinions, good or bad, and I think it's great. That's why I love it over here. But as fans, we've got to be a little smarter about picking our spots of when to ***** and when to just support the damn program. Today was a day we should have done better at the latter.
Today our fans have been 17ing pathetic. Ole Miss may be a damn joke, but when they acted like Freeze was a great hire and that he was their first choice, yada yada yada....that was the smartest thing they could have ever done as fans. If we would have come out in full support of Ray today, it would have made his job a lot easier starting out.
But maybe that's just me.
Now, I'm going to go grab some shears and shave this wool, but I had to take a moment and agree with bigdawg22
