You do realize that these charges could be for playing music too loud and not turning it down fast enough for that singular police officer, right? Real felonious stuff we got here. Definitely worse like curb stomping a guy or gun charges, though.

"The NCAA was just in town because we signed so many good players. Nothing to see"

"Kimdeechie is just emotional is why he was in a confrontation with the coach on the sideline. You want that fight in your football team"

"Sexual assault at a football players house? You know sexual assault can just be unwanted touching. Just a girl or guy wanting 15 mins of fame and a payday. Nothing to see here"

"it was just a little DUI from what we think is weed. C'mon. It's normal now in two states. Nothing to see here"

"it was just an arrest for not turning their music down... C'mon guys"

folks in Oxford must be champs at whistling, because everyone is doing it while walking past the graveyard.

Irony thy name is SPS.

I am not going to make any effort to defend anyone or deflect any of this. But in one sentence you guys will say that OM is the master of sweeping **** under the rug while commenting about a player being arrested. Just trying to point out the ignorance of it all. If we were the masters of hiding stuff, wouldn't we at least be able to make something as small as disorderly conduct go away?

You are right. I, as a lowly State fan, am banned from knowing anyone in/from Oxford or being privy to anything that happens within Lafeyette county.

If I steal, get caught with drugs, fail a drug test, and then "play my music too loud"...and the only thing I get busted for is "playing my music too loud"...

Well, Shirley you aren't that dumb.

(And I'm not saying DN did those things specifically, just using them as examples)

They're not kids...Denzel is 21. We have 19 year old MEN who are fighting in Afghanistan right now. Then again, because it's Ole Miss maybe you never have to become a man.

Oh, I see now. So the cops are corrupt but not totally without limits?

They are corrupt enough to ignore the drugs, guns, prostitution, etc, but the disorderly conduct is a just a bridge too far. It is starting to make sense now.

Wouldn't it be more suspicious if lets say one of our most highly recruited players mysteriously gets "red shirted" in his second year but no one knew why other that "doesn't have his head on straight"?

Oh, they become a man when they go to Ole Miss. Just ask Ms. Blondy Bigboobs at the Swagtaggery Boutique.

Good point ...

Salvation will cometh with the arrival of spring practice*****

How many get 'forgiven' by Bucky beore spring practice starts?

And four arrests in this amount of time shows a definite trend ...

These are the third and fourth arrests of the offseason for Ole Miss ... cornerback Bobby Hill was arrested on charges of sexual battery; Channing Ward pleaded guilty to DUI; Serderius Bryant was cited for public drunkenness and disturbing the peace; and Denzel Nkemdiche was charged with disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, failure to comply with a police officer

That would be a fairly common thing for a cop and/or prosecutor to do. Basically anything but a DUI, if they are inclined to do a favor they will drop the stuff that will follow a kid but not let him off completely.

you keep pumping that spin bud, lemme guess... Was the music that was being asked to be turned down Christian rock playing on speakers freeze had blessed himself?

The Keemdeechee brothers are terrible people by all accounts. Can't wait to make them our ***** again and again and again

Is this really true? I hear rumors but other than taking money from the bar, I haven't heard any rumors that would indicate anything other than they are about as terrible as a lot of 19 and 20 year olds would be if they were catered to and led to believe they were untouchable, in other words nothing that they can't grow out of quickly when they get out of that atmosphere.

Really? B/C i have never heard of OPD taking it easy on anyone.

Maybe you can share your experience and tell us how they let a DUI off with public drunk? OPD is notoriously rough on the OM students. Damn near everyone has a story about a public drunk charge in Oxford.

Just b/c you say it doesn't make it true.

Really, that is your example?

If that is all you have, then you are going to believe what you want. If OPD had been covering anything up, wouldn't they just ignore a trace amount of cocaine? I bet you won't see many prosecutions based on trace amounts of anything. Sometimes prosecutors don't go forward with charges b/c they would lose. There is no way you get a conviction with that evidence.

You're right, nobody would ever believe Henderson was using illegal drugs. It's just too much of a stretch.

You won't see me defending Henderson.

I said he should have been kicked out of school and ran the hell out of town. Now as it turns out, he seems to be doing better, but i don't think a mediocre basketball player on a bball team that is probably a step below mediocre is worth the trouble. I especially am suspicious of football players hanging around him so much. He may prove everyone wrong, but i think Henderson is a bad seed.

I was just making the point that it was a stupid example of OPD covering up for athletes.

I think most of you have a hard time separating what Freeze and the coaches try and teach them on a daily basis and what a kid does. Freeze and his staff have always said that they teach these kids certain values and preach on that day in and day out. None of them have said that all of their players will be choir boys and never get in trouble. In the end they're dealing with 18-22 year old college athletes who have been told and believe they are essentially invincible. When coaches try to instill certain values in players, most will act within reason. Some will get in trouble. It's silly for people to say that, because he says he wants his program and players one way and some get in trouble, that he's nothing but a snakeskin liar and fake Christian. It's like someone saying that the evangelists on Bourbon aren't real Christians because they can't stop every person from sinning.

What the hell is a snakeskin liar? I don't doubt the term applies, just don't know what it is.

Go back and read the comment you responded to. "Basically anything but a DUI", as in prosecutors don't have much discretion to drop a DUI charge down. I don't think cops can do anything about it either once they arrest you for it, although obviously they can simply refrain from arresting somebody over it.

And as far as you thinking it's not true, I can't help it if you're not important enough to know how the system works.** All I can tell you is I have had instances where I've talked to a police officer, an ABC agent, and a city prosecutor where they have dropped more serious charges and pressed a smaller one and know of plenty of instances that I didn't have anything to do with where people have received similar treatment. Intent is not charged, even though enough quantity is there, reckless driving turns into a speeding ticket, possession turns into MIP, etc.
