I absolutely agree, however, the time to question is after the initial encounter. That cop has no idea who you are, or what your intentions are. I would rather not put my life into someone else's hands simply because "I know my rights!". If you know them, then you also know that a judge has the final say, and he/she will sort out the mess.

Individuals should comply with the authorities, which by all accounts is what the Minnesota man was doing before he was shot.

Society needs to question not just what happened, but why it did. At the very least, Something needs to happen with the approach police departments make to training their officers.

I've said it and said it, I wish a police strike of some sort would happen nation wide, just so all of the good whiteys and blacks that hate them so much would be left to defend themselves for an allotted time. I'd say 1 week of zero police presence would fix the issue completely.

I've been around a lot of cops, even found myself in some trouble when I was younger. Most of them far outweigh the animals civilian life possesses by miles.

I would love it if the cops would stop. They've done nothing for me. They couldn't even find the people who about killed my wife and I in a home invasion.

I could give a **** less about the police. They can suck my *** S & C, seriously.

Well since stats and variables mean little in these conversations, this should go unnoticed.

That's some serious authoritarian thinking there, a level I'm certainly not comfortable with in this country. "Comply or die" and then "let us do things our way and if you complain we'll stop doing our job at all" is dangerous authoritarianism for armed government agents with a license to kill.

I avoid the police at all costs. If I find out that you're a cop. I smile and try to leave ASAP. As I have said it before on here numerous times. There are 3 results that happen when you deal with the law.

You lose your life
You lose your money
You lose your freedom

I avoid them at all cost. They will not take any of those 3 things from me.

How can you say by all accounts he complied? You mean the woman who sat there filming her boyfriend die?

I'm not saying that cop is innocent, and I'm not defending him, all I'm saying is that we don't have all the details. What we know is the cop shot him, the dude had a gun, and he was reaching for something, probably not his gun.

I'm assuming the cops ran his plates when they pulled him over, was he a suspect in another crime that made the cop jumpy, did he tell the cop to go eff himself, or did the cop just get nervous and shoot him? We don't know at this point because the video starts after the shooting occured.

Better hope you don't have a tail light out or fail to give a change of lanes signal. Because if you do then according to S&C you have a very rigid code of protocols to follow and if you deviate in the slightest or hesitate in the least then they can empty their clip into you.

Settle down chompsky, it's not going to happen. American police are far too ethical to allow innocent people to die at the hands of Americas out of control populous.

It's not "comply or die". It's comply, file a grevience if need be, and use our rule of law and judicial system because that's how this works. That's how you and I get to enjoy our nice life in peace.

I like the statement "comply or die". Still having trouble understanding how rare it is for a cop to even kill an individual. When it happens, immediate investigations happen, and our system determines justice.

Accidents happen. It was unfortunate that it happened. The officer is under investigation and I'm not sure what else people want? Public lynching of police?

This is a rare occurrence. Let's just ignore that though.

Maybe a cop doesn't want you to die. Maybe he just wants your money. Sooo he goes back to his squad car and gets a credit card swiper, so if you have a Visa Gift card, he can get every cent on it.

Family men aren't capable of possibly doing something criminal?

My point was that we don't know why the cop shot him, all I'm saying is let the facts come out before we get whipped up into a frenzy either way, and this turns into something even worse than it already is.

Listen, I am not gay. No offense. You live how you want to live but seriously this over-the-top flirtation is uncomfortable so please find another object for your affections as you are starting to remind me of the guy at the end of American Beauty.

I doubt this will be a Michael brown incident. Which was actually a legit reason for the officer to protect himself.

This creep is going around asking men if they served in the military and wanting them to tell him their war stories. Pretty creepy. I bet he is touching himself while he's doing that. Can we get the mods to ask him to stop his weird sexual advances?

If over 1000 people killed by cops each year is rare enough for you that's your judgment to make. But if when someone is shot, "well he should have complied" is the answer, then we're ok with comply or die. Not saying all cops do, just saying that's the standard you're expressing that you're comfortable with. I'm not comfortable with it. Nor are a lot of other people.

And if over 1000 people killed is so rare that we shouldn't be concerned, tell me again how 50 police shot to death per year makes it a super dangerous job.

that's pretty much how I see it. Doesn't matter the color. Little "Yes, sir/no, sir" goes a long way in not getting pistol whipped, **** kicked out of ya, drugs planted in your pocket, etc. I mean... just don't be a dick or act stupid and bad things don't usually happen. Go on your merry way. Not that hard of a concept, really. Sometimes when the officer tells me to have a good day I ask him if he'd like a drink of beer that's in my cup holder.
Then explain Castile's killing? By all accounts, he had no record, good guy, cooperated. Still f'ing dead.

I'm just as appalled by the other murders by cops, not just against black people. Cops are completely out of control. No reason to have this many killings going on all over the country.

It doesn't matter whats rare enough for me. Again with smart people completely going ignorant while race is concerned.

1,000 (your data) deaths by cop in a country of 320 million isn't a rare occurrence? White people aren't claiming oppression by police, so adding them into your thought process here might make you feel equal, but it's irrelevant to the topic.

When I say, "comply" ( you keep taking words out of context) I say it because in most of these cases of supposed "police brutality" against blacks, almost every single one of them had some element of danger for the officer, and had the individual just complied, it wouldn't have escalated to extreme levels.

When an officer tells you to do something by his authority, you don't have options at that time. And this isn't a shock to you. If an officer told you to stop and comply you would, and I think we both know it. This is where I believe soft bigotry is running rampant with this mindset.

Cops arent telling the public to comply for the power of it, they're doing it because they must protect themselves, the individual, and innocent people in the area. Had the guy in Louisiana actually brought that weapon out and killed 5 innocent people, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. You'd know nothing about it, and that doesn't set red flags off in your head as to the reasons these topics even exist?

Spare me the "individual life" speech until we talk about the thousands and thousands of bodies piling up in heavily sympathetic and liberal ran cities in America. I have no interest in someone trying to convince me the guy in Louisiana deserved protest, wall to wall news coverage, and this board acting like idiots over it while innocent blacks really are being killed (kids/innocents) in record numbers in America and get zilch from anyone. Maybe take care of that giant problem before we worry about the .002%.

That was my point, we don't have all the accounts, and we know this, yet we want to come to some sort of conclusion on what happened. When reasonably none of us can right now.
