That sure seems to be an inflection point - March 2020 thru June 2021.Mental health declined greatly in the US during the heavy-handed government Covid control 5 years ago.
He is also the first player on an active roster, suited up playing in season to ever die by suicide in the 4 major sport.![]()
Marshawn Kneeland Died From Apparent Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound, Cops Say
TMZ Sports has obtained police dispatch audio connected to Marshawn Kneeland's death.www.tmz.com
Allegedly texted family and friends goodbye, and was found in a potable toilet. My god.
My doctor buddies think it was probably Chronic traumatic encephalopathy. Just based on the irrational behavior.I cannot help but wonder if he was just triggered by police or if he was so afraid of whatever he was doing wrong that his life was over
Seems like we might learn a valuable lesson from this on what government should and shouldn't be doing. That sure seems to be an inflection point - March 2020 thru June 2021.
It was relatively shortlived, yet seems to be a lasting and an obvious starting point for macro and micro examples.
It has been interesting to see how a relatively shortlived issue has had lasting impact on people's perspective and attitude on life and society, and disagnosable mental health issues as well.
If the police triggered him that bad, he either had very serious mental issues already or he was doing something wrong.I cannot help but wonder if he was just triggered by police or if he was so afraid of whatever he was doing wrong that his life was over
That would be Jovan BelcherHe is also the first player on an active roster, suited up playing in season to ever die by suicide in the 4 major sport.
Perhaps. I honestly dont know.Seems like we might learn a valuable lesson from this on what government should and shouldn't be doing.
2 weeks to slow the spread!Perhaps. I honestly dont know.
If nothing had been done, and exponentially more were seriously sick and/or died, would that have been 'better'? Would it have been better for the correlated increase in anxiety, depression, and nihilism?
You are trying to assign a simple viewpoint to something which is complex. Many states never shut down, barely enforced distancing requirements, and schools were only closed for the last couple months of Spring '20, yet there are examples of an increase in anxiety, depression, and nihilism in those states as well(I live in one).
That reality does not support what I know is your simplistic viewpoint.
Trump's Administration and Biden's Administration both did some really dumb things that were at best ineffective and at worst irresponsible and destructive.
Trump's Administration and Biden's Administration both did some really good things that helped reduce the negative impact of the virus on the health and economy of the country and world.
The timeline I’ve heard:If the police trigged him that bad, he either had very serious mental issues already or he was doing something wrong.
It’s almost as if scaring people sh*tless, keeping them under virtual house arrest, & not allowing them to work to earn a living has some negative effects.Mental health declined greatly in the US during the heavy-handed government Covid control 5 years ago.
Yeah, this is a complex topic and based on extensive history, you struggle with nuance and complexity.2 weeks to slow the spread!
it was very clear after a period of time that shutting down and keeping kids home from school was a terrible idea. But some of you persisted nonetheless!
congrats I guess
I was just thinking the same thing. I mean come on guys we can not just say R.I.P. out of respect? I have often thought not to use the ignore feature, but this is a clear sign I was wrong. You guys took a thread about a young man killing himself and turned it into a political pissing contest. Congrats
My bad, I didnt view my comments as political though. They have been, to me, wonderings about why there seems to be a sustained increase in anxiety, depression, etc since the start of this decade. So quite topical. You guys took a thread about a young man killing himself and turned it into a political pissing contest. Congrats
I've dealt with it most of my adult life. Knowing you have everything going for you but being unable to see through the darkness. It's a tough thing.Depression is more serious than most people think.
I thought the new Springsteen movie was an aight movie about him, but a very good look at depression. He was about as on top of the world as a person could outwardly appear, but inside he was struggling like hell.I've dealt with it most of my adult life. Knowing you have everything going for you but being unable to see through the darkness. It's a tough thing.
Nah most problems are solved with simple solutions. You just gotta break down the problem.Yeah, this is a complex topic and based on extensive history, you struggle with nuance and complexity.
It is unfortunate because meaningful change rarely comes from simplistic views and claims.
Everything you do is politicalMy bad, I didnt view my comments as political though. They have been, to me, wonderings about why there seems to be a sustained increase in anxiety, depression, etc since the start of this decade. So quite topical.
I can't even figure out why it seems worse, so it'd be foolish of me to blame a group or side.
The unknown is quite frustrating.
If the truth ends up being political it’s still the damn truth and she be spoken. You guys took a thread about a young man killing himself and turned it into a political pissing contest. Congrats
I dont have a good rebuttal because I dont need to. I didnt advocate for that and dont need to defend it.Nah most problems are solved with simple solutions. You just gotta break down the problem.
I get it. You don’t have a good rebuttal to why we kept kids out of school for as long as we did.
just be a man and admit it!
You defended when it was happeningI dont have a good rebuttal because I dont need to. I didnt advocate for that and dont need to defend it.
I could list reasons why states and school districts around the country stayed closed for longer, but those are well documented and easily found, and they are not me defending the decision to stay closed.
Mental health is complex. Feelings of anxiety, isolation, and depression are complex.
There is no way to know how much is a result of some states having some restrictions longer than other states 5 years ago. And again, states where in person learning was minimally impacted have also seen a rise in youth and young adult mental health concerns.
I encourage you to learn more about this.
F17S.You defended when it was happening
would you like me to pull the receipts?
Why? Why not just choose not to click on and read it? I haven’t even read any more yet I just clicked on it and saw your post. Why do you care if people read and participate in a random post thread? If you don’t personally like why not just move along and don’t read it? Why the demand for censorship?please lock it, mods
TLDRF17S.
Schools all around me were back in person at the start of the school year in August '20, and many allowed students to choose in-person or remote, depending on family situation. That, to me, was quite reasonable overall. Districts across the state then closed when the reported transmission rate was over X%(I forget the amount). Schools closed constantly that fall. Again, that seems like a reasonable approach overall.
As for at a national level, if massive school districts were concerned with mass transmission, I could see that being a real issue. If teachers were concerned with their health, I could see that being a real issue.
Below are some comments from me about schools closing and opening due to the pandemic. No need to do the work, I did it for you. Rip on me all you want, I guess.
The first link is particularly funny, given your simplistic view of...well almost everything in life.
Here is me talking about my state and my school district in October '20. I offered up how some view certain decisions well and some view certain decisions negatively. I then say 'very little in all this is clearly right or wrong, but people keep trying to simplify a lot of policies and decisions as clearly right or wrong.' That is hilariously topical, seeing as how I happened to be pointing out that you are being overly simple in your views and claims in this thread.
Here is me saying I am not suggesting there be no in-person school in July '20.
Here is a thread I started where I complain about the lack of guidance from the Governor's Department of Education in June '20. At the end I say that I hate not being able to trust either side to lead in a way that puts citizens first. In the thread, I point out that Superintendents from across the state were frustrated because they couldnt receive guidance from the state on the biggest societal health incident of their lifetime. But nowhere do I demand schools be remote.
Here is me pointing out that the Republican governor decided to close schools across our state. That is Sept '22.
Here I say my state opened up faster than others and say that I dont know which decision will be best in the end. That is Feb '21.
Why? Bc you don’t like what’s being said?please lock it, mods
Haha, you 17ing clown.TLDR
Plenty of schools shut down for way too long. You know it and you know you justified it when people called it out.
Quit lying.
