This was an 8-4 or 9-3 year all along

The four SEC teams we beat are all looking (or soon will be) for a new head coach. We beat weak OOC teams and lost to three top ten teams. OM was really the only toss up game, and we **** the bed.

You're right- I thought it was more 7-5 at beginning of year

Got lucky that Auburn and Arky exploded. I was hoping we might win one of those games. Other than that we played a sun-belt schedule

You know I can understand losing to TSUN at their place this year, but not like this. THEY are not that good. We have some serious coaching problems.

I question whether this team has any heart. They played with little emotion and don't seem to have an emotional leader. Mullen didn't seem to give a **** this year.

We have some serious talent problems. We slow across the board on defense without a big physical linebacker. Cam Lawrence is a warrior but he played DB and QB in high school. Think about it. On offense we have a helluva a QB but no big physical back or OL. We need LBs and OLs bad in this class. Then we will be just fine with Mullen and Wilson.

8-4 is not bad, it's just we were not competitive against the better teams. And we should have played OM better.

Wrong this was a 6-6 year for the team we had and 8-4 fell in our lap. Nobody in the world knew the 4 SEC teams we beat were going to be THAT bad.

But they were that bad.... Regardless of preseason hype. In hindsight, we won the games we should have won... OM was a toss up.

At the end of season, you think it would have been okay to look back on losses to ARK and AU,?

We had three games where talent was comparable. The two games against coaches that are terrible, we won. The one team without a terrible coach blew us out. We did not compete against two of the three teams that were better than us and barely competed against the third. We have a coaching problem, and it's on offense and defense.

We need a new play caller on offense, immediately. I'm not thrilled with the job Wilson has done, but had the offense not **** the bed, we might could have survived last night's defense. Regardless, we can't afford to take a step back in recruiting this year. We get another good recruiting class, give Wilson another year to significantly improve the fundamentals and in-game adjustments on defense, and then we make a change if he doesn't.

Let's whip out the predictions thread and see what the pre-season consensus was

amongst the all knowing pack.

I agree. Going into the year and looking at the schedule, without knowledge about who would be good/bad, most everybody would be happy with 8-4. I wanted to beat the 17 out of UM as bad as anybody and I'm pretty bummed today, but the reality is it is just another game against an SEC opponent. They out played us and appeared to have better talent on the field in some key areas. It's hard to say but they were better than us on the day it mattered. Going 8-4 this year isn't a failure.

I think it is a failure when you consider we had to struggle against the cupcake teams and were totally blown out against the good SEC teams, including our arch-rival last night. We were totally dominated. That's why I think Mullen should give consideration to replacing ALL of his assistants. That also includes Ballis, who I have heard so much about. I can't tell this team is stronger. In fact, they looked much slower and weaker than Ole Miss.

It would also help if we had a real speed burner at WR...ala Moncrief. Bottom line is that what they did last night on offense was all built around his ability and execution.
