Take 78 to Tupelo then 45 to south of West Point then 82 to Vegas. 4 lane all the way. 2 to 2 1/2 hrs travel time.

I've been taking the 78, 45, & 82 (or Old W Point Rd) route forever.

Wouldn't consider anything else. Now, on game day for an 11 AM game, traffic can get bogged down in West Point. So, to be conservative, plan on an extra 20-30 minutes to get through there, unless you know a way to get off of 45 & by-pass the heart of W Point.

Also, as far as getting on 78 in Memphis, DO NOT get on 78/Lamar off of I-240. Take 240 around to 385/Bill Morris Parkway and take either Hacks Cross or Byhalia Road to 78. The traffic lights on Lamar, especially if there's a lot of truck traffic, will make you want to slam your head into the windshield.

If I were leaving from the Westin, I'd just go down 55 and over on 82

All things considered equal, routes from Memphis to Starkille are really six of one, half dozen of the other. However, you will be on the interstate in less than 5 minutes and out of Memphis proper quickly early Saturday AM if you take 55. You won't have to worry about traffic around Tupelo or West Point either. No game in Oxford either so that takes out the possibility of Ole Miss gameday traffic.

You could take I55 to goodman road and them take goodman to olive branch and hit 78. That hacks cross road or byhalia road drive over to 78 is awful. But it is the best way to 78 from the Collierville or Germantown side of town.

If you are coming around 240 close to 55 I would take goodman to 78.

I use to do the whole 78 way, but since I moved to Memhpis and live downtown, I started 55 & 82. Should take you three hours. It's really easy to get on 55 from downtown.

55 S to 82 E takes less than 2.5 hrs from Downtown. I would take that route. I made it from Beale to the Architecture Building in 2hrs flat a few years ago.

If you are dead set on going through West Point down 45, then Goodman road is a great way to get over, or go 240 until you get to Hacks Cross Road.

Best bet is to use google maps, pretty much gets you there the fastest anyway.

Staring at the Forum/Westin (across the street from each other) take any street west over to Riverside. Turn south (left). Riverside becomes I55/South loop at the old bridge. Follow the signs for I55 south to Jackson. Exit at Church Road in Southaven (Avoid Goodman at all cost). Turn left(east) on Church. Church will dead-end at 305 in Olive Branch. Turn left at 305, go about a half mile and take 78 to Tupelo. Take 45 south at Tupelo down to 82. All four lane with the only problem being West Point. I live in the OB and go to a lot of Grizz and State games; have tried every combinations this will be your best bet..

The last couple of times I went down 78, there was a lot of repaving going on with 1-lane traffic and decreased speed limits, but the most recent time was 5-6 months ago so that might not be the case any longer. I personally take 55 to 82 because it's easier to get away from Memphis and you don't have to go through West Point.

How many speeding tickets do you have?

You have to average over well over 90 to make it there in 2 hrs flat.

Actually Webbs directions are the best for crossing over from 55 to 78. Church has just a few lights.

I went through West Point about 10am for the aTm game. I had no problem with traffic. Tupelo? What traffic? You bypass the entire town.

The way described is how I would go on most days. If you are driving early Saturday morning, Goodman should be fine.

West Point has been a breeze this year. 2-3 years ago it would be bumper to bumper after you reached the first red light. Maybe they adjusted the lights to let traffic get through quicker on game days.

If someone can't navigate the traffic in Tupelo, they're going to have a stroke trying to get out of Memphis.

Hell maybe I am mistaken, that was 10 years ago. Still liked going 55S from downtown versus 78. Tupelo isn't my cup of tea.
