Unless our top donors and Selmon himself have come to some sort of gentlemen's agreement that last year should be stricken from the record, this simply isn't true no matter how many times posters keep saying it. Was he dealt a tough first hand? Sure, but he was paid $4.5M last year to do a job, and it was a miserable performance.
Then, even if we were to agree that this should be considered year 1 from W/L standpoint, it's not as if winning football games is his only responsibility. He is in charge of an SEC football team which means from day 1, he should be promoting the program, he should be recruiting SEC caliber players, and he should be surrounding himself with a A-grade staff. He has all the resources for every one of those areas, yet last year was a complete $hitshow across the board.
I tend to agree with others that anything better than 2-10 probably gets him another year, but there is a 0% chance that Selmon and our top football donors haven't already been having conversations about next steps if 2-10 does happen.
