Riley chuckled to himself when he had lunch with Tom Osborne, when Tom warned him about passing in unfavorable weather conditions. Still chuckling Mike?

21-59, 36%, 234 yards and 1 TD, 1 int in 2 games trying to throw in windy conditions.

The blueprint for success is there. You've gotta be an idiot to not follow it. Remember Tom tried a passing offense and surmised it wouldn't work because of weather conditions at home and within the conference.

How's our run game looked this year? Need a better O-line to run the ball. IMO the wind wasn't a major factor on Saturday in the passing game, just need to make better decisions and catch the damn ball!

Some of this is Tommy just has to get better. Stave chucked it pretty well into the wind. Granted out secondary is porous, but still he made some good throws and doesnt have near the Arm that armstong does

What? Can you not see we haven't thrown well because of the wind? The NFL has a lot more experience. Just because it works in the NFL doesn't automatically mean it works in college. Conversely, would an option offense work in the NFL?

Tom chucked the passing offense because Oklahoma was kicking his *** on a yearly basis...

I don't think Stave threw it for 50 percent either. 50 passes and no int's is just bad pass defense.

Both Riley and TA admitted in the post game press conferences that in the 2nd half the wind changed directions to where it wasn't a factor in the passing game.

It changed directions after we changed ends after a quarter ended? So why are the throwing stats so bad in the last 2 games then?

I think they don't want to make excuses which is admirable.

One thing no one asked the staff is why didn't we take the wind in the 4th quarter? Wisconsin won the coin toss and deferred to us. 2nd half they take the ball and we choose which end we defend. Why didn't we go against the wind so we could have the wind for the 4th quarter?

There is a lot of wind and weather issues in Michigan, Ohio, Oregon, Washington, Penn, North Dakota, Utah...and they all throw the ball just fine. We threw the ball just fine when it was Zac Taylor back there chucking the rock. Lets just wait and see when we have a consistent thrower.

Okie States qb is 11 in the country in passing, that's one of the windiest places in the country.

And Ohio St wouldn't be undefeated if they didn't have a strong running game
Strong running games and defense have won the last 8 NC its why the SEC has dominated.

Pass first teams don't win championships that often in college football.

I never said anything about NU being a pass first team. I like any football player/fan know the importance of a running game. I'm just not going to blame our passing woes on weather.

We don't need to wait for that. Osborne had 2 great throwers in Humm and Ferragamo but still changed his offense because of weather conditions.

What do you want to change the offense to? Do you want to be more like Wiscy or Arkansas? Or back to the 90s power/option attack? Or would you like to see a pro-style North Dakota State offense like Craig Bohl ran? I lean toward the NDSU attack.

Pro vs college. A guy who's going to be in the hall of fame with a great amount of experience. You're talking about a place that's cold. Do they have the kind of wind that we do in Memorial Stadium?

I would like to see a power/option offense. A big thing is that it's easier to recruit to given our location.

The elite NFL teams also have solid running games. Re-watch that Pats-Colts AFC Title game and remind me whether Blount had 200+ yards rushing.

Seattle with multiple Super Bowl appearances, and one of the best RBs in football.

I do think the question was asked... I read somewhere that since we got the ball first in the second half the hope was that we could deliver a knockout blow with one or two scores... which never happened. That was the reasoning behind the choice, and as hindsight is 20/20, it was a poor choice. I didn't like it even when he made the choice. Always have the wind at your back in the fourth is my thinking...

I agree, I would always want the wind in the 4th quarter no matter what.

You forgot Purdue. That terrible weather killed the passing game there when Brees, Orton, and company were flinging it around.

We had a couple grand opportunities with excellent field position. Just didn't convert.
