Long way off but 24/7 reporting Robert Washington a 2016 RB has just committed, Brewster is recruiting him.

He's in 8th grade...

why are we wasting time recruiting 8th graders? There's only so many minutes in a day.

I don't believe that we are allowed to contact kids that young, therefore, the kid must have contacted us. In that case, I don't think there was much time wasted.

However, maybe this is the way we get 5***** talent. Get on them early, and develop that relationship. Kinda like Stansbury, but much better coached

Kid runs like Marcus Dupree...

Jesus man. Watch this video against international competition with Team USA and you tell me why we are "wasting our time" recruiting him.

Potentially a generational gamechanger for us at RB. Granted it's a long time till Signing Day, but this is still a very good thing for us.

PS: Kid is from a few miles down the road from where Brewster's family lives. Very likely a personal connection between the two....

8th grade? Hell, he's 3 years away from his career ending knee injury ...

Looks like we're getting an early start.

Looks like a Trent Richardson type back to me if his overall strength and top end speed continues to improve at a normal rate over the next 4 year. Gonna be a long 4 years with this guy. Every program in America will offer him.

Brewster was a huge hire. The WRs have picked up their game since he arrived and it's good to see him getting results on the recruiting trail.

That video is super great and all but isn't Tim Brewster the WR coach and doesn't Tyler Russell only have one year left and don't we badly need deep threats at the WR position? He's in 8th grade!! That's 5 years from stepping on the field at MSU. Lot can happen in 5 years. There's like 1% chance this committ actually stands up after 5 years but there's 100% chance we have no deep threat receiver right now. So again why are we wasting our time recruiting 8th graders? We never have issues at RB and unless he's Barry Sanders it's a waste of time.

I like the Trent Richardson comparison.. He does indeed look like Richardson. Also, pretty sure he's currently in the 9th grade.

2013 - Sr
2014 - Jrs
2015 - Soph
2016 - Fresh

You were pretty close before, but now there is no doubt that you are going full retard...

You don't even understand coaching roles in recruiting, but you are seriously trying to argue this point?

Last I checked, we are recruiting the #1, #2, #3, and #4 NATIONAL Juco receivers with EVERYTHING we've got. 3 of the 4 play in Mississippi and all will be/have officially visited us. You must have missed that part?

Link to any "time" we've "wasted" recruiting this kid? Oh that's right, you are just throwing **** against the wall for the sake of bitching.

You getting mad? Waste of time Engie. I'll eat my words 5 years from now if he plays a snap for MSU.

I'm sure it's worth bookmarking to be sure you are shamed into admitting your guilt 4 years from now**

Where is the negative in this? A top national rb is committed to us early. There is NO downside to that. Zero. Doesn't matter if he sticks with us or not longterm. It is still a positive for our team. But you literally just made up a baseless reason to ***** about it something that couldn't possibly be any more positive...

My reasoning is the time used to committ him and hold him committed could be used on more pressing needs. It's too long away from him playing and way too many variables in between. How pissed are you going to be after 4 years of recruiting if he's the best RB in the nation and then decommitts and signs with Alabama? We need Rumph and Brewster could and should use this time recruiting him not 9th graders.

Again, confirming that you have zero idea how recruiting actually works.

You can't recruit a single player 24/7. We've gone after Rumph as hard as we possibly can. NOTHING more that we can do. At this point, we are only still chasing 5-7 guys for this class, and our contact with them is VERY limited by the NCAA. So, I guess you prefer we just go ahead and shut down recruiting other than the 1-2 hours of total contact we can spend with those 5-7 players every week. God forbid we actually use the "free" time to get ahead in future classes with guys that are the very best in the nation at their position in upcoming classes...

Seems you have a real recipe for long-term success on your hands**

For all the naysayers talking about it being too early

It's better than him not being committed. The only thing bad about him committed is that its going to give fans heartburn during 'crootin season in the years to come.

His dad is a coach. He doesn't want him going to a "bigger school" where he has to worry about battling 3 other 4 and 5 star talents. There is no reason why the kid likes MSU, but he does. For some odd reason he has latched on to us. I really think its the case of wanting to go to a small school that can get a lot of attention.

A lot can happen between now and then, he might a DT if he keeps growing likes he does.

Might be a pretty good student too, since he's at a private school. And I wouldn't be surprised if he had some relatives in Mississippi ... the only other school he's interested in is OM.

Since he's at a Christian school though ... Freeze might try to use the fact that he's so pious himself, and that Mullen is an atheist or at best a Scientologist.

On the surface, it's crazy.. But in actuality, there's nothing to lose so why not?
Of course, there are what ifs. What if by then he isn't same player, has some sort of career changing injury, who knows, maybe we even have all new coaching staff, may not even have a football program, you just never know what circumstances may happen. He may grow into changing his mind, again who knows? But in the end, there is nothing wrong with offering and accepting an offer even this far in advance. If he pans out and sticks with us throughout the process and maintains the talent we think he has, then great. If not, what have we lost? It's not like we're already worrying about how to fit him into our 25 man class for that year. It's not like it's filling up already. Might as well go ahead and keep him warm early before the big boys come calling.

His film is ridiculous. Never seen a kid with that kind of vision that young... then again, I don't spend much time looking for one either.

Nonetheless, what an awesome tape of film.

Exactly. There is no downside in this for us...

What we've got is a committed kid on Team USA that will travel and become friends with some of the most talented kids in the country for the next 3 years. Him recruiting for us this far in advance(or just getting his friends interested enough to actually tune in and watch us play) could really, really pay dividends in the long term. You know Brewster is going to milk that for everything it is worth.

Alot of potential positive. No potential negative...

Do you know there are restrictions on the amount of contact we have with a recruit? Please say you do. We can't spend all our time on one guy, nor should we.

The biggest positive from recruiting a kid like that who commits early is we can assist in his development. From all the articles I've read his dad is really supportive of him, especially when it comes to getting him in showcases. I fully expect a guy like that to use a D1 coaching staff to his advantage.
