Dang, I was hoping he could get us someone out of Texas
why are we wasting time recruiting 8th graders? There's only so many minutes in a day.

Jesus man. Watch this video against international competition with Team USA and you tell me why we are "wasting our time" recruiting him.
Potentially a generational gamechanger for us at RB. Granted it's a long time till Signing Day, but this is still a very good thing for us.
PS: Kid is from a few miles down the road from where Brewster's family lives. Very likely a personal connection between the two....

That video is super great and all but isn't Tim Brewster the WR coach and doesn't Tyler Russell only have one year left and don't we badly need deep threats at the WR position? He's in 8th grade!! That's 5 years from stepping on the field at MSU. Lot can happen in 5 years. There's like 1% chance this committ actually stands up after 5 years but there's 100% chance we have no deep threat receiver right now. So again why are we wasting our time recruiting 8th graders? We never have issues at RB and unless he's Barry Sanders it's a waste of time.
You getting mad? Waste of time Engie. I'll eat my words 5 years from now if he plays a snap for MSU.

My reasoning is the time used to committ him and hold him committed could be used on more pressing needs. It's too long away from him playing and way too many variables in between. How pissed are you going to be after 4 years of recruiting if he's the best RB in the nation and then decommitts and signs with Alabama? We need Rumph and Brewster could and should use this time recruiting him not 9th graders.
On the surface, it's crazy.. But in actuality, there's nothing to lose so why not?
Of course, there are what ifs. What if by then he isn't same player, has some sort of career changing injury, who knows, maybe we even have all new coaching staff, may not even have a football program, you just never know what circumstances may happen. He may grow into changing his mind, again who knows? But in the end, there is nothing wrong with offering and accepting an offer even this far in advance. If he pans out and sticks with us throughout the process and maintains the talent we think he has, then great. If not, what have we lost? It's not like we're already worrying about how to fit him into our 25 man class for that year. It's not like it's filling up already. Might as well go ahead and keep him warm early before the big boys come calling.
Definitely no downside but nothing to get excited about either - at least to me.
