Could it also be said that the opposite is true where if Hines is fed the ball in the post more consistently and he is effective, it will draw double teams and that by definition means open shooters are waiting outside? From what I am seeing he has to establish position better and then demand the ball. Right now his strength is within 5 feet or so of the tin. That and he takes time bullying his way for a better shot. That demands a double team and until out shooters do a better job from the arc outlet passes aren't a solution. Meaning he won't have a lot of room to shoot.
Needs to be quicker with the ball and the wings need to become targets which will only happen when and if they start shooting better from the arc.
In other words, I don't think the shooters need to start by being better, we need to dump it into Hines who we already know is physically able to overpower nearly everyone he faces, and that will lead to open looks for shooters, which will lead to better shooting percentages. Hines is a capable passer, we've seen that.
I really hope we start using him that way. That is basic basketball. And I don't see our teams doing it much. If we can't do it with Hines, who is a huge body that can present a great target and can't be moved off his spots, then who can we do it with?
