Of course some of them have to play both sides of the ball...But not all of themSo a little school like TJ (355 kids)has a separate defense? They dont play both sides of the ball? Interesting.
I don’t think they are close to Elkin in academics......Parents who want to see their kids better themselves instead of falling in with the wrong crowd send their kids to TJ. That is because TJ is one of the top academic schools in the state, so parents know their kids are getting a good education.
In what way? Are you suggesting that Elkin is better than TJ academically?I don’t think they are close to Elkin in academics......
Oh really? Cuz TJ is currently 7th best school in North Carolina. Where does Elkin sit on that listI don’t think they are close to Elkin in academics......
83rd in NCOh really? Cuz TJ is currently 7th best school in North Carolina. Where does Elkin sit on that list
There is nothing entitled about these kids. What most of you all do not understand is TJ isn’t a recruiting school. Most of the kids come here because their parents feel it is better for them. Parents who want to see their kids better themselves instead of falling in with the wrong crowd send their kids to TJ. That is because TJ is one of the top academic schools in the state, so parents know their kids are getting a good education. So think again next time before you try to say these kids are entitled. They work hard for everything they get
The state of N.C. Ranks Elkin 2nd behind Chapel Hill..Oh really? Cuz TJ is currently 7th best school in North Carolina. Where does Elkin sit on that list
yeah so if your parents are poor or can’t get you there then you go to the poor city school. It’s entitled elitism funded by tax dollars. It’s a freaking disgrace
Please show us these rankings. A URL would be greatThe state of N.C. Ranks Elkin 2nd behind Chapel Hill..
They had it in the local paper a few weeks ago and I don’t care enough to look it up for you. Please show us these rankings. A URL would be great
It’s basically legalized segregation
It runs to anywhere in the county for any student to attend. Please elaborate on how it is legalized segregation. Every person gets the same opportunity. This doesn’t make sense at allDoes it run anywhere in the county for any kid that would like to attend?
Well I looked it up. And the only thing I can find from the Elkin tribune is that the Elkin city schools rank 5th. That is the city schools. So is that including elementary and middle schools too or just Elkin High SchoolThey had it in the local paper a few weeks ago and I don’t care enough to look it up for you.
Elkin City schools include all threeWell I looked it up. And the only thing I can find from the Elkin tribune is that the Elkin city schools rank 5th. That is the city schools. So is that including elementary and middle schools too or just Elkin High School
That ranking isn’t for individual schools. TJ is in the Rutherford County school district so that isn’t an accurate measurement for TJ academics considering there are 3 more high schools in the districtElkin City schools include all three
So are you saying that if a school gets a transfer athlete then they are advantaged? Going by that reasoning then Shelby high school is advantaged. Their QB and leading Wide Receiver used to attend Burns high. No disrespect toward Shelby. Just wondering how TJ is considered advantaged when every school does thisNew QB just happened to hit the lottery. Athletes are lucky with the charter school lottery it seems. Charters should ask to be moved up a class. Have some dignity and admit your advantage. Even if a charter win a state football title they will get very little respect because they play by a different set of rules. Whats these kids learning? Stack the deck in your favor and you can steal a title from a traditional school.

That's taking it too far man. It has nothing to with race, and everything to do with culture. Let's face it, Cleveland County has a less than stellar reputation in the state...It’s basically legalized segregation
Considering that the class of 2018 was the first class that had the opportunity to go k-12 most of the students at TJ are transfers. Before offering education at a younger age TJ was only a high school and middle school. Once people realized that TJ was a good fit for their children they decided to move their kids there. You can’t expect people to not transfer to a relatively new school when it’s a good fit for their childrenAll of TJ kids are transfers. TJ has boundaries that overlap other school boundaries.
Yes I did. I vote for school choice. I think its a great ideal. But It creates an advantage that should be dealt with, why can't we have school choice AND a equal playing field. Why do u act like it's has to be one or the other?

I think Elkin ranked 5th overall but 2nd academically. I may be wrong, I’m not sure.Well I looked it up. And the only thing I can find from the Elkin tribune is that the Elkin city schools rank 5th.
