Your QB came in the 5th grade?

1 player does not make an entire team. Just because someone transferred to TJ and is having success doesn't mean that TJ is advantaged. Like 1amaniac said earlier. Shelby has transfers from everywhere but nobody says that they are advantaged. everyone knows that transfers happen and that its the players decision. it seems that you are the only ones who do not understand that wherever you go to, there will be transfers from other schools there

No players from E Rutherford on this team? I could care less but I have a good friend in the area and he knows how things are run at TJ. Like I said I could care less, but there’s some fibbing going on here.

and how exactly are things ran at tj? from my understanding, East Rutherford recruited the QB that was going to take over the role at tj this year. he transferred to east during the offseason and was 3rd in state for passing yards this season. the 2 QBs simply switched schools

So how does a random lottery fit in with that scenario? MIC operates under that assumption too, but does anyone really think those athletes are part of a "random" process?

well the problem with the way you all see it is you only see the ones who do get into the school. you don't see the ones who do not. there are kids who played for East Rutherford this year who did not get in through the lottery so they are at East. you chose to only see the ones who do get picked through the lottery

What about Lincoln Charter and basketball? Or Franklin Academy and soccer? Do they just randomly get all those good athletes?

Oh and btw if a corporation provides money to a charter their company is allowed a certain % of enrollment for the children of employees. That's a state law that was passed a couple years ago. So yeah everyone has the "same" opportunity.

I will also say that to an extent it is legal segregation. Why do you think Cornelius and Huntersville residents have pushed so hard for municipalities to be able to start charters?

I have no issue with school choice. However the state is letting $$$$ dictate the process and the process is not working like they will tell you it is. Go check Phil Berger's donations and you'll see why he pushes this school choice. If traditional public school teachers had the money to donate to him he would shut school choice down in a heartbeat.

It's obvious that we just aren't going to see eye to eye on TJ or the politics of charter schools...So maybe let's just talk actual football...TJ plays in the conference, in the classification that the NCHSAA has put them in...And that is that...

TJ's strength is their defense. From what I have seen on film from Elkin I do not see them scoring much. With that being said I do not know how the Gryphon offense will fare against the Elks defense. Tj usually misses an extra point. ill say 27-14 TJ

Considering that the class of 2018 was the first class that had the opportunity to go k-12 most of the students at TJ are transfers. Before offering education at a younger age TJ was only a high school and middle school. Once people realized that TJ was a good fit for their children they decided to move their kids there. You can’t expect people to not transfer to a relatively new school when it’s a good fit for their children

For the most part, school rankings are useless. Most of the time they don’t take into account the demographics of the area. If you look at the socioeconomics of each student population, it will be on par with the schools ranking.

So, if your golf and tennis teams are good, you probably rank high in academics.

In schools that don’t rank as high, the top 25% or so are on par with the other school, but the bottom 25% really bring down the rankings.

Why are AG kids not allowed to be good at football? And when they are, it's suddenly a conspiracy. TJ has been playing football for 10 years, and no one had a word to say about it until MICS came onto the scene 3 years ago. Then, all of a sudden TJ has cheated their way to the top.

they can be good at football the question is, why can’t non AG kids attend charters? If they went to a better school with smaller classes they might become AG kids. It’s discrimination and segregation all over again, only this time it’s against the poor, black and white. I promise very few poor kids go to charters.

And reminder, before I get called a hater or whatever that I hope TJCA runs the table. I think they will soon. But it appears some question the lottery system. I can't elaborate on that.

What I don't like is schools that can pull from anywhere playing against schools that can't. "They do it anyways" will be the response and I understand that. This is not TJCA'S fault and I understand that too. You play who NCHSAA tells you to.

You're right. The blame falls on the NCHSAA and legislature for letting this happen. I think it's insane a charter and private school, let me say that again private school, played for the the 1A soccer title yesterday.

Well a public charter school shouldn't be playing a private school in the playoffs...

It doesn’t matter if you’re poor or rich or middle class. It doesn’t matter if you’re black white yellow or red. Know what the HELL youre talking about before you mouth off about it.
