If we're going to send 102 letters to a single recruit, we should put a page in each one that goes to a flip book where the flip book shows him catching/running/throwing a touchdown.
I heard, from this board, that sending that many letters to a single recruit is stupid, lazy, an obsessive. It's amazing how impressive this recruiting tactic has becomes when your staff does it, especially given the quality of letter that have been made public.
I don't know how sending 100 letters is lazy but it's still stupid and obsessive. But if everyone is doing it - then you can't be left behind.
I was speaking to the general frame of mind around here after OM put together the class that they did last year -- and how they've started this year**
Seems that many here want to use them as our benchmark rather than looking at the simple fact that the previous two classes are the best two we've put together in quite awhile -- and this one will likely be better(albeit smaller)...

I have to say that this line of thinking is good. The quantity will get old. It's the quality or originality that will catch their eye.
They could have everyone turn in the game pieces from McDonald's Monopoly game that they don't want and stick 100s of those inside the letters (they have no redemption value); or make their own Monopoly game: "You landed on CHANCE. Your card says, 'You signed a NLI to Auburn. Go straight to jail. Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200.'"
They should find out if any of the recruits do geocaching. They can send them a letter with the coordinates to themoney bag an invitation for an all-expense paid official visit to StarkVegas.

Yes, you're right, but it's no longer stupid, lazy, and obsessive when MSU does it. Regarding the quality of the letter ... I'm sure that was an attempt at humor, and also to be unique. And it seems to have worked if the recruit(s) bother to Tweet a picture.
Yep, I don't care who does it, that's ridiculous. Just don't see where that would impress me if I was a recruit.
No, it was the **** show we recruited in 2010 and 2011 that gave our staff the reputation of being lazy. I don't think they're lazy, but it's not as high of a priority for Mullen as it is Freeze.
