Might be a position where he is welcomed back but not on scholarship which might make his decision for him ...He did redshirt so graduation would be closeYes he is, my bad - long couple days.

Yep, as with the whole offense running the zone read. Guess they didn't watch that much film from last years team to see what they could incorporate into this years version. Oh well.Tommy won quite a few games under the previous staff running more of a zone read system. The coaches should have played to Tommy's strengths and ran a lot of zone read and option this year, until they could find a QB capable of running their system.

Making TA not run is like making Carrot Top do stand up without props...stupidHis stats were incredibly similar last year to this year except for his carries and yards on the ground. The offense wasn't the problem. It was that Tommy didn't have someone like Ameer Abdullah to pick up the slack. We also didn't have two or three extra cupcakes on the schedule.
Tom Herman took a team without a QB with a poor record and found a way to scheme and discipline them into one of the big new years day bowls with one more win. Nebraska is setting the bar way to low. This team had plenty of talent to do much better. I was not used and how can anyone say they couldn't run the ball when they never tried in any serious committed way with a sound scheme taking advantage of the hand they were dealt. This staff wanted to pound a square peg in a round hole (their hole) rather than adapt. They could have put a stop to undisciplined play but they didn't and it cost them today. I'm not so sure they were capable of better game management. You just can't fix some things.
Yes, what would we do without the undertalented walk on who couldn't beat out Tommy Armstrong?Dude, you scared me.
Was that to be by firing squad, electric chair, or lethal injection?![]()

Wouldn't that nitrogen cause the bends? That would be cruel and unusual punishment! Some states are considering Nitrogen asphyxiation. Of course, a rope is the preferred 'green' solution.
I would have to side with TA on this one, they have asked TA all year to play a style he just isnt good at, when they go to the roll outs ,2 man patterns, pass run options hes a different and dynamic player, I like DL as a person but he has been incedibly selfish and narrow minded with his play calling, trying to call plays he finds interesting or whatever it is and totally immune to calling plays that seem more basic but have been far more effective.
In contrast to last year when he was running something he was good at? Hello, he was terrible last year too!! He just happened to have a better supporting cast last year. I've been a Husker fan for 50 years and I can't remember a worse group of running backs than this year. Our receivers are above average but you still have to get them the ball. Line was average at best as run blockers.I would have to side with TA on this one, they have asked TA all year to play a style he just isnt good at, when they go to the roll outs ,2 man patterns, pass run options hes a different and dynamic player, I like DL as a person but he has been incedibly selfish and narrow minded with his play calling, trying to call plays he finds interesting or whatever it is and totally immune to calling plays that seem more basic but have been far more effective.

He's not the only one that did that this year. Accountability doesn't appear to be a strong suit of this staff

I didn't think it was Riley that was suspending most of those guy. Could be wrongOh for god's sake. Yeah, because Riley hasn't even disciplined anyone this season. Except for, you know, all those guys who were suspended for games this season.

Tommy's arm is better than Fyfe'sand yet Tommy will never have the touch and arm strength that he does. All he lacks is some experience. Tommy has three years of experience and he still plays like he did today.
What were the reasons?
TA's decision making cost us games last year as well. He hasn't learned. Langsdorf is a very good QB coach and has coached him hard and he hasn't learned. Time to move on. I love TA's competitiveness and attitude for the most part but his decision making has killed us this year. IF our D was lights out maybe we could have overcome all the turnovers and missed reads but it wasn't so we didn't. I have to wonder what a Fyfe or Darlington might have done this year in this offense had they gotten all the 1st team reps and playing time. IMO we might have been seeing better decisions by now. Bush I'm afraid looks like TM/TA part 2.I'm not a fan of either Langsdorf or TA right now, but I believe the results would be better with players that fit their system. You can't continue this supposed hybrid thing another year. You make a clean break from the older players that don't fit your system. You use that in your recruiting as well. Let guys go that don't fit. Pull scholly's where you have to. Keep those around that will be good practice players, but you have to make wholesale changes to the personnel of the team, and that needs to happen before spring ball.
Just saying, I think it would have been helpful for the coaches to sit TA a time or two after he displayed bad decision making. Do you not agree with this? It's hilarious you assume you know how to think about "the long term" better than the guys who are there every day.

In no way do I think I know more than coaches but that doesn't make them perfect either.
What supposed hybrid thing? I swear to god, some of you act as though you've never seen a pro style system before. That's what we're running. It allows for quarterback runs, but isn't built around that. What Beck was running was a "supposed hybrid" and it's why the offense never had an identity.I'm not a fan of either Langsdorf or TA right now, but I believe the results would be better with players that fit their system.
