but there were plenty of questions about our ability to find a replacement. Sometimes you go to the casino and you walk out with nothing. We aren't there yet, but we're nursing drinks in the nickel slots for sure.

Not looking promising at this point. I'm just holding on to hope that Stricklin lucks into something or has a trick up his sleeve.

How many times is this dumpster fire horsesht gonna be thrown out by the idiots who know everything? So the stupid fight was an embarrassment, but is it really the be all and end all? Let it go already. Running Stans off is something we will have to overcome. As I said earlier this week, we are now officially in the bottom tier of the SEC. It's okay to have been wrong, but it's not okay to make **** up or blow **** out of proportion to justify it. Maybe somebody could learn something from this fiasco.

We might really 17 this up and end up winning 18 games a year and bowing out of the NIT instead of doing the same thing with a few more Ws to hang our hats on. Whoop-dee-17ing-doo.

I wasn't for it or against it; I had an open mind. But now I've realized the ramifications: that we are going to be stuck down in the cellar portion of the SEC with Auburn, et al. I know some claim we would suck next season no matter what, but I don't buy that. The post-season situation left a lot to be desired, but Stans kept in the upper portion of our conference with teams that almost always had a chance to win the game at hand. Now that we have blown up our program, I am skeptical that we can recover within five years. I hope to be wrong, of course, but I do think this is a fiasco right now. The comparison to Jackie's last years is not on the mark imo. I'm not even sure that Jackie was trying at the end, but I am certain that Stans was. I do agree that Stans was in a difficult transition with our program, but I'm not convinced right not that anyone else will be better able to solve the dilemma. We'll see what happens, but it ain't looking pretty to me right now.

You act like we are trying to replace 17ing Phil Jackson. We dont have a top BBall job, butany living breathing human being that knows basketball could replicate what Stans has done here.I don't even know where to begin to show you ignorants how much better off we'd be with a "Student of the Week" head coach. Have any of you been paying attention to games the past 14 years. Even Bobby Knight said MSU Basketball has been the biggest waste of talent in NCAA Basketball over the past decade. I think that guy knows at least a couple things about college hoops.

We are trying to replace a coach who, yes won 20 games a year, but this was against **** non conference opponents most years. Not to mention some of the best bed shitting demonstrations Ive ever seen. The best games we played this year, Stans sat his *** on the bench and didn't say a 17ing word. I've been following MSU basketball seriously since the early 90's and the past few years have been some of the most frustrating seasons I've ever witnessed. The most frustrating one was probably the 03-04 team. His teams have been losing more and more respect for him over the years. The last two years have been a complete circus. We have not even had a resemblance of an offense as long as I can remember, and the defense and rebounding has been swirling down the ******* during recent years, minus the Swat machine that covered up a lot of deficiencies.

I can see the frustration with being turned down by coaches currently coaching in **** conferences, but it's not like we're trying to replace a Rembrant or a Van Gogh. We are replacing an underachieving coach who did not have the respect of his players. A coach who did less with more, year in and year out.

Not to mention, how many teams play themselves from a 5-7 NCAA seed in February, to an NIT **** 4 seed a few weeks later?

I know most of you have thrown logic out the window years ago, but this is a 17ing no brainer. I honestly do not see our record from this past season being any different if Stans had stayed in the locker room and taken a nap during every single game. I really believe we'd have won more games and made the tourney had he been absent for the crucial games.

Let me ask this question. Have any of you noticed Stans substitution policy during his tenure? It was very evident this year for certain. We would build a nice comfortable double digit early lead. Wizard Rick would then sub at least 3 sometimes 4 starters, at the same 17ing time. That double digit lead would be cut to 2 withing 5 posessions and 3 min of clock. Do you see any other coaches doing this dumbass type substitution? 17 no you don't. He's been doing this forever and blowing huge leads as long as I can remember. I know some of you enjoy winning 20 games a year and fail to observe the consistently winning programs, and what their coaches do during games, but I guarantee, those coaches sub 1 or 2 starters at a time and stagger their subs (barring foul trouble).

Wondering why this is still so very difficult for some of you to see. And we could hire any coach 9th grade through NBA waterboy, and he'd be able to take this years team to 20 wins. Its really not that hard.

Don't mean to rant, but I've read all these posts about getting turned down like were the GD lakers looking to replace Phil and keep Kobe from whining all season. If we'd had a competent coach the past 8 years, we'd be the top program in the SEC West and probably #3 behing UK and FL in SEC. Stans would retire after next year, as planned, and we'd have coaches contacting us. But instead we were fine with mediocrity, sat on our cocks, andallowed Stans to keep underachieving. Thus, we have brought ourself back to the middle/bottom of the pack in the SEC.

You basically say that anybody in the world can outcoach Stans and you say that you know better than him when players should and should not be substituted. You imply that we would never if only he understood the game like you do. I appreciate that you're a loyal, long-suffering fan, but you really need to know how ridiculous that is. No doubt you're right that the last few years have not been Stans' best, but your implication that the whole of his career is the same is wrong. Your contention that he had no capability to turn it around is not a proven fact, and it will never be tested, so I think it's wrong to throw it out there. How does he have a winning SEC record if every other coach in the world is his superior? I get that you wanted to make a coaching change, but you don't have to go goofy to justify it. Be happy, because you are getting what you wanted.

The morans can "dumpster fire" all they want and they are full of ****. These were the same morans that said over and over aGAIN that all we had to do was get Stans out and we could get ANY coach we wanted.

Welcome to reality boys.

right now, i'd rather have Stans and a full recruting class and potential 18-20 wins next year vs what we're about to be in for. the problem children were leaving anyway.

go ahead -flame away.

Had he stayed, our program would've continued it's downward spiral..........Stans isn't the man to get us outta this mess..........He doesn't have enough gas left in the tank to overhaul this program..........We need a young, energetic coach who will work his *** off.........That's what it will take to get this program back on track........

fter the Syd debacle I would have made him agree to some changes for sure if he wanted to stay
I really thought he should have left on his own a couple of years ago, but that is not the point.

The point is that folks have been yelling for Stansbury's head a lot longer than just this season. They have said we could get anyone we want for more than just this season.

If they had just started that talk this season, I would not have said ****, but they have beaten that dead horse for several seasons now.

Suggestion I made (over & over again) for Stricklin was ... "If you are going to 'dump' Stans, at least have a proven coach on the 'hook' ready to replace him."

Goat got it right ... this is getting really similar to the "Cutcliffe fire / Zero hire" that we have so much fun with.

ole miss football fans = miss state basketball fans

and as long as it's just fans, it's ok. But when it creeps into your administration and decision start being made based on those delusions, you get this.

Stansbury hasn't given us **** in 3 years ...right at 2 Million a year we deserve more

Ever writer in america knew the talent we had this year and they also knew we had a key piece holding it back ...a coach and coaching staff

HUGE/BIG difference. The bears fired Cut, we didn't fire Stans. Plus I totally agree with Rouge. But didn't think we were gonna get Pat 17ing Riley either. I knew it would be like this & anybody else that thought otherwise is a moron! This job CAN be a good job after it's "dolled" up. Much like what Mullen's doing to the football job. It's not a desireable job, stop thinking it is. We need a young energetic asst who worked under a good coach. Payne fits that bill. Stop kidding yourselves into thinking its a "great" job, it's not!
