I'm betting they hold out for the $50,000 fine when they take down their real rival.

Yaaaaay! Moral victory for State, the true good sports.

When's the next billboard going up in Oxford?

I'm not so sure we shouldn't "save" a field swarm for a big game either. Having the fans and players going batshit during the game--feed by intentional rousing videos on the Jumbotron, and then storming the field to mob the players and turn the whole thing into a circus--with a dozen+ tops recruits in attendance, may be slicker than you think. OM obviously planned to let the students on the field from the beginning (if they won). Hokey as it seemed to us, it seems the recruits were impressed, and why wouldn't they be--bedlam & insanity just to break even on the schedule? The recruits were probably impressed with the fan support.

I wouldn't flinch a bit if we did the same thing next year in Starkville with a house full of recruits. Think about it--$5k looks like a pretty good price considering what top recruits are probably going for these days... Better pick the right one though, cause the next one cost $25k.

I would say we are dumbasses if we swarm the field next year after beating Ole Miss unless they are ranked in the top 10. The hypocrisy of them storming the field after beating "lowly" non-rival MSU is rich.

Shows how much they feared & respected our team...

...you don't rush the field against an opponent you are convinced sucks. That has never happened, & never will. You rush the field after you've brought down an imposing giant. Funny how they are now talking **** about our football team, but they were so convinced they would never beat Mullen, they wents nuts & rushed the field after their historical victory. Of course, we are talking about a school whose student body is so unhinged they'll riot over a presidential election. So to them, illegally rushing a football field after beating an opponent they were favored to beat is small potatoes.

You call it hypocrisy...

...and you have a point there especially when considering the series record but I prefer to think of it as evidence that Mullen's TSUN comments and the Athletics Department's "This is OUR State" advertising worked in that more of Ole Miss fanbase does indeed consider MSU the #1 rival. I wouldn't be surprised if the "OUR State" theme continues for a while longer-- though in a slightly less in your face manner.

Especially when they had the game in hand halfway through the 3rd quarter. Not like they scored on the last play of the game.

I guess you guys really enjoy claiming that we claim you're not our rival. Silly. You're our main rival. Storming the field was due to various factors:

1. We won four games two years ago and two games last year. We won six games this year, and the Egg Bowl was number six, making us bowl eligible for the first time in three years.

2. We did not expect to win six games this year, and our progress is markedly on faster track than we expected.

3. You and your coach have talked **** and rubbed **** in, including but not limited to using official university billboards all over the state. Banks and Lawrence talked **** before the game, and Perkins took ownership of his "Rebel Killer" moniker in the newspaper.

4. We not only won, we destroyed in the second half and several key players had a big game, and our seniors went out with a win. We started the season with no real "stars" on our team. We ended with a nice cavalry of guys who never give up and make big plays, including guys like little Jeff Scott who doesn't always make "big" plays but, to use your terminology, "grinds" it out for his team.

5. We lost some very close games this year, including against A&M and LSU, and yet our team came back and fought like warriors in their last game, to end the losing streak against our rival.

Stop whining and take it like a man. Your hashtag, Snow Bowl and Egg Bowl uniforms, etc. ******** disqualify you from calling anything bush league.

Swarming the field was all about showing love for this rag-tag team of mugs who refused to quit. Your team quit, and you didn't win. Sorry you are upset.

Edited to add: I noticed Whit Waide hasn't made one Tweet about the Egg Bowl.

What's so amazing to me is I've seen several posters say they are glad the TSUN/Our State stuff "worked" in making Ole Miss angry at State, even though the inevitable effect (as should have been obvious to you when you started spray painting your cleats gold) was that you'd eventually lose and not just lose but get the absolute **** beat out of you. You'd rather just have the attention than actually win the game. That's stunning.

Well, you have a point. Mississippi State University was far from an "imposing giant" this year!

An OM fan

busting on us for moral victories (in 2012 especially) is laughable, at best. Y'all took the praising of moral victories to another level.

Good lord, people of Oxford. Act like you've been there before. If we were top 5 material maybe, or maybe if it had been like 20 years, but it'd only been 4 years since the last time this happened.

Right.

We only feel moral victories when we narrowly lose at the very end of the game to a mighty opponent. You call your losses to those same opponents moral victories when they push your **** in deep, but it's a moral victory because your only losses are to top-ranked teams.

Oh, and you got the **** kicked out of you by the moral victory-lovin' Rebs.

Wow. Act like we've been there before?

Did we put gold on our uniforms? Billboards? Coach refuse to call y'all by your school's name?

Y'all went new-money redneck crazy after we beat ya 45-0 and you haven't looked back.

The epitome of acting like you've NEVER been there before is to claim you'll never lose to us again.

Oh, drop the pillow fight, guys.

We rushed the field in 1999 after beating a 8-4 Ole Miss team.

Yet you rushed the field as if MSU were an imposing giant...

..that's my point. You do realize your fanbase rushed the field after beating a team you were favored to beat? That doesn't happen very often. In fact, amongst student bodies that have control of themselves, it never happens. So much for LSU being your real rival. At least your illegal rushing the field episode put that lie to rest forever.

You're absolutely right. The proper course of action is to beat a 4-win team and put up billboards, put gold trim on the uniforms, have a countdown clock about your game with that team — then repeat the next year when they've only won two games.

Want some MSU edam cheese with your whine?

Even Flab would probably agree

That rushing the field upon winning your last game of the season, to be bowl eligible, is a far cry from tearing down goalposts.

Flab would probably disagree that calling us "unsportsmanlike" is rich, coming from a fan base that insists on breaking rules and ringing cowbells.

Feared and respected, eh? I think it was quite the opposite. Our team went balls to the wall because they did not respect you. Nobody fears and respects a nonstop ****-talker. If you'd just beat us three years in a row and kept your mouth shut, we might have actually feared and respected you. But after a point, all the ****-talking makes a fella just say "screw it. only a ***** talks this much ****."

Right... and you stormed the field after beating a team that shouldn't have even been in the top 25. Your fan base and entire University is made up of lies, fake facades and racism. I'd be ashamed if it was my University.

As soon as Neilson's runs out of scarves

I hung out with Deuce Saturday night, and he was wearing a sweater. Isn't that a homosexual garment, per SPS?

Yep. We racistly faked our way to a 41-24 win.

It didn't even happen. All an illusion. Billboard beats scoreboard every time.

My favorites are

those who talk about how glad they are they weren't present when a confrontation took place, or they surely would have done something brave and violent.

I would actually be interested know if any fanbase has EVER stormed the field...

after a game they won in which they were favored to win and no championship of any kind was won. Maybe, but its EXTREMELY unusual.
