That just blows my mind.... Quick... somebody get some TTU boards now. The meltdowns are sure to be epic.

If the Mike Leach book is to be believed

Then the folks controlling the purse strings at Tx. Tech are basically the "Crazy Rich Texan" from The Simpsons.
The money folks at UC are STILL more interested in hoops (Big East. Whattayagonnado?) so he'll have more control.

They lost 4 of their last 5 games(sounds eerily similar). Maybe he heard from some unhappy fans and/or AD. Some of their fans seem happy about his departure. But no, I didn't see this coming either.

Tubby has been miserable since he took the TT job. Even in his opening press conference- he had the look of "I can't believe this ****" when they made him flash his guns for pictures

Kind of a lateral move I think. He might be able to recruit a little better at Cincy. I just can't see that redneck in an urban setting like Cincinnati.

The cincy airport is in Kentucky. He will be within spitting distance of some other hillbillys.

Great move for Tubby

Tubby's been trying to get out of West Texas for a while. Can't say I really blame him. Tuberville is not an "air raid" coach and, like us, he knows that the recruiting grounds in Indiana and Illinois are wide open, and now possibly Kentucky.

Tuberville did make some negative publicity by slapping an assistant on the head during a game. The 4 of 5 losing streak didn't help.

I don't know why Tennessee didn't hire him other than spite and bad memories.

I think it is. But maybe they have deep pockets, and maybe he doesn't like west Texas. I have to wonder if the "slapping" incident had anything to do with it.

Has no one mentioned the "slap the assistant *****" incident and the possible impact that has on his decision to find employment elsewhere? Surely there is a correlation?

Just a long spit to UK.

Where's he from anyway? I never particularly cared for him, although he's a decent coach it seems.

Yes, it was mentioned below a few minutes ago ... look under the "Isn't that a step down" post.

Cincy Home town of Kroger. I think the Mrs. may have called the shots on this move.

Look for Kingsbury(A&M OC, former Tech QB) to be at the very, very top of Tech's list - something I would LOVE to see happen.

His wife has a much bigger reason for getting out of town. That red light she ran and popping the old
guy who didn't make it is probably on their minds....

Early word is they're not valuing him that high.

Age discrimination, I suppose. They're going to try and throw the house at Briles.
