Very Early 1a West Bracket Prediction

1.)Mitchell 9-1(only loss will be to mountain heritage takes murphy's place in small 1a)
2.)Mountain Island Charter 9-1 (only loss was to bessemer city cake walk schedule rest of the way)
3.)Cherokee 9-1(only loss that will count for playoff purposes will be Murphy, unless they lose to Smoky on Friday then i predict they will be 8-2)
4.)Thomas Jefferson Academy 8-2(loss to Mountain Island, and will lose to bessemer city, rest of schedule is cake)
5.)Winston Salem Prep 6-4(will beat North Stokes,Atkins, Word of God, Statesville Christian, Bishop Mcguinness, and East Surry in my opinion)
6.) Alleghany 6-4 (won 3 games already for playoff purposes, I hope they beat elkin starmount, n wilkes)
7.) Kestrel Heights 6-4(they are 0-2) but they play the easiest schedule in the world, will find out if this prediction is bogus or not depending on score vs chatham central tomorrow
8.) Union Academy 5-5(have won 1 and will beat south stanly, albemarle, chatham, and south davidson
9.)Robbinsville 5-5(have lost 3 and predict will lose to murphy and cherokee
10.)Bishop 5-5 or 4-6(have won 2, will beat north stokes and atkins. South Stokes this friday is tossup game in my opinion south stokes is much improved.
11.)Andrews 3-7 (have won 1, and will beat hayesville and rosman)
12.)South Stanly 3-7(will beat Albemarle, Chatham, and South davidson)
13.)Community School of Davidson 2-8(will beat Highland Tech, and cherryville(although improved)
14.)Albemarle 2-8(will beat chatham and south davidson)
15.)South Davidson 2-8(beat north stokes and will beat chatham)
16.)East Columbus 2-8(will beat south robeson and west columbus)

Teams left out from west: Elkin (winless), Hayesville (winless), Rosman(only 1 win vs hayesville), Chatham(winless), North Stokes(only win vs atkins Maybe), West Columbus(winless)

I predict nobody to win their conference's so no automatic 1 seeds, so all tied records I suppose there would be a draw for seeding purposes, since there isn't any 2 or 3 seeds anymore.

Thoughts? I have no idea on adms, i'm basing them off last years numbers and the fact that i'm hearing murphy has 40 more students and mitchell has 40 less than they had last year.

yes I have a lot of time on my hands lol.

No sorry Friday, I only look into small 1a since thats were my Alleghany Trojans are.

East Columbus might only win 1 game.
Possibly 0-10. There really bad, South Robeson will beat EC and WC this year.

CC will beat AHS this week. I also wonder if SD can finish the season after only dressing 14 in week two. Filling the bottom of the bracket may be difficult. I like your prediction on Cherokee. They seem to have really built something up there after a few years of struggling.

Does South Davidson have a JV team where they could finish out varsity season?

A parent in the crowd said they had one. The problem is the 14 only had one "athlete" that would even be a threat to the top two thirds of the league. If they survive the schedule, they have earned COY for their head coach.

With the trial seeding procedure in place this season only 8 1A teams will be 1A West. I would think East Columbus, West Columbus, South Robeson would be Midwest not West, whichever team(s) makes it. Aren't they typically the easternmost teams when longitude places them in the West bracket?

what is the trial procedure you refer to. Are they going back to pods.

Not sure who your "athlete" is but I do know that one of their better players suffered a foot injury Friday night. He is hoping for a deep bruise and not a fracture. He is the fullback on offense.

Instead of East and West, after 32 large and 32 small schools are determined, then longitude will determine the 8 East, 8 Mideast, 8 Midwest and 8 West teams in all 8 football championships. First round of playoffs will have #1 East play #8 Mideast, #2 East play # 7 Mideast and so and so on. NCHSAA's thinking is this may help avoid some of the first and second round conference rematches that have been seen in playoffs. This is a 1 year trial. All sports will use this except football is the only one subdivided in to large and small. Other sports will have #1 East playing # 16 Mideast and so and so on.

Look in the Competition section. That is in reference to all sports, the NCHSAA Handbook contains the breakdown of football only into A and AA in each class.

I hope that the match ups work out so that South Davidson travels to Cherokee. It will make for a real interesting matchup.

Not sure Mitchell will finish with only 1 loss. Still lots of ball left to play and I think Hendersonville will be a major hurdle.

That is exactly where Cherokee 's girls went last year. It would make for a very intense first round game.

Not sure they want any of our boys lol . Honestly it will take a lot of luck for our boys to finish that high. Injuries are taking its toll. Our stud rb went down Friday and we lost two
Senior captians to season ending injuries. So it will be an uphill climb for sure

Cherokee will be fine. Swain and Robbinsville both look pitiful as of right now. Andrews, Hayesville and rosman don't stand a chance. Where does Cherokee play murphy this year?

Man,1A ball is really weak compared to years past. East and West. Wallace Rose Hill looking at another State,no one in their way.

If RVille and Swain look so bad then were does Cherokee fit in? All three have had one common opponent. The X Owen coach doesn't know much about the SMC. Until someone puts Rville Murphy or Swain out of the Big Three you don't count those three out. Someone might do it this year but until then Rville Murphy, N Swain are the class of the SMC. Remember that coach Kenny Ford.
See to many ppl claim that ever year. It's been nearly a decade so I will wait and see.

Cherokee will not beat Murphy, Swain or Robbinsville.

I don't see Alleghany losing 4 games. They are a good disciplined football team. Very strong up front and #36 is a load to bring down.

Yeah but unfortunately i think west wilkes, east wilkes, and wilkes central r better, ashe county is tossup.
