Who you got?

I ask because I feel that most of us would stay that Dixon was a much better back... but Vick has gotten a ton of carries this year and has made the most of his opportunities.

It really sucks that Dixon hasn't been given a chance to be a lead back somewhere.

Ballard is very good at picking up blitzes, in today's NFL, where 3.5 yds per carry backs are a dime a dozen, that is very valuable.

I wanna see both of them do well, but I have to go with you in that I think Dixon is the overall more talented back. I hate to see Dixon not getting the touches he probably deserves, but I'm glad for Ballard since he's making the most of his opportunities.

I like Dixon. But Ballard is the better back. And it's not close. There's a reason Dixon is buried on the depth chart.

Vick is making his living doing just that....blocking. I will take him over AD any day.

I would have liked to have seen what Vick could have and probably would have done behind a better o-line last year.

I think AD is more gifted athletically, but I think Vick is the better football player.

Vick would be in the same position as Dixon is if he played for the 49ers.

And Dixon would play for the Colts. The only thing we don't know is if the 49ers would have drafted Kendall Hunter if it were Ballard there instead of Dixon. But Vick is not a better back than Gore or Hunter.

Dixon has more raw ability but Vic's a technician and is totally committed

to becoming a better running back. Yes Dixon has some better talent ahead of him but at the same time it appears that he isn't going to come close to reaching his true potential.

This. Vick doesn't play if he is with the Niners. The only reason Vick is getting as many touches because of injury.

Who do I want on a college football team without a QB and a talented but shotty OL? Dixon. Guy is a bulldozer.

Who do I want on my read-option college team, pass happy college team, or on my favorite NFL team? Ballard. Ballard. And twice on Sundays Ballard.

Dixon is my favorite MSU player of all time, but he benefited by playing on one of the worst teams on offense in the country his entire tenure. He was the most talented guy on our team, and his size allowed him to just punish everyone who tried to touch him. He could hurdle, and I do believe he is/was a better athlete, but I don't think he's a better running back than Ballard. Tom Brady is maybe the worst athlete to ever play QB and he schools "athletes" like Cam Newton every single week.

So the answer is Ballard. Except in a situation exactly like 2009.

Croom destroyed Dixon in that 2 yards and a cloud of dust scheme. Dixon would fall usually right after the first pair of fingers touched him. Mullen made him great by teaching him things like screens. I still say if Dixon had two years under Mullen he would have been SEC POY and on the Heisman ballot. He went from being wore out by Croom running him up the middle every 17'ing play to dragging six Houston players with him into the endzone under Mullen
