They're just not going to name it until the end of the season. Sounds like it's not Bud Foster either.

If this is the case, and the Schiano thing doesn't work out, we need to hire an offensive HC and throw literally any amount of money at Bud Foster to get him as a DC. I'm sure he won't be too happy with VT when he finds out it isn't him...

Foster has strong, long-standing ties to Blacksburg and the state of Virginia - business, financial, family. He is well-compensated. I do not expect him to leave, even for a UVa head job (which would never be offered given the class warfare between the Wahoos and Hokies). One question -- how have his defenses performed the last few years?

Frank Beamer made $2.5million this season.
DC Bud Foster only makes $556m per year.

Our new HC should get him to RU ASAP .

They stopped Ohio State last year. Not sure if they had the horses this year, but he has been good enough for long enough to be a proven commodity.

the guy has been widely known as THE defensive genius for so damn long.

Virginia Tech is respected by many today, not because of Beamer, but because of Fosters defenses. They're physical and always seem to cause problems for other teams offenses

Why is having Bud Foster here dreaming?

Has been promised that VT job for quite some time after Beamer is gone and now he doesn't get the nod. No doubt about it, he is salty as hell right now.

Is there a link? The only thing I found was an Adam Rittenberg tweet saying he expects VT to be the first school to fill its opening after the season. Who's the person rumored? Larry Fedora? Anyone else?

Ah, well
1)RU still has to get rid of Flood, which apparently is not 100% decided.
2) Bud would be great for RU and our defense & special teams.
3) Norm is out at Hawaii, and great for offense.
So putting it all together seemed like fantasy dream land.. It shouldn't be, but its a pipe dream from where we are right now.

I think bud foster makes over one million dollars as DC. Pretty sure he makes more than flood now.

Why would bringing in a west coast person like Chow make any sense when there are several other options which are certainly better snd who nate familiar with the stress we normally recruit. It gets to be tiresome ehen people just toss unrealistic names out there when better energy could be spent on closely follow some of the MAC head coaches on the radar or top assistants that we might consider especially if Julie's hands are strapped due to Barchi's imposed budget edicts.

Didn't you learn from the Friedgen episode if your trying to build for the future you don't guys who are collecting social security. How much energy and time left does a 70 year old Norm Chow have? Do you think he is going to have the energy to out work guys like Franklin. Meyer, Narduzzi or Harbaugh on the recruiting trail?

Chow is more of a name guy with reputation for offense. He attract s the talent and younger coordinators are hitting the road. I would think a guy with his resume has a large coaching network of NFL and top college coaches to get some assistants to come here. That is something an upcoming MAC coach cannot bring to the table. Is he left ng term? No, but our B1G $ arrives in 3 years to replace. I think by then talent would be here for next coach/coord.

No to Norm Chow. He almost ran Hawaii to the ground to the point of their program being shut down. Other than the P5/G5 thing and the traveling issues Hawaii face every year, as similar to the Rutgers situation as you can get.

I read something that said Rich Rod actually isn't involved in the VT job. Larry Fedora is the name I've seen but again all just rumors so who knows.

No Norm Chow. He's too old & way past his prime. If you want a potent O, which I do, then you hire a new head coach from the G5 hot names: Herman, Fuente, Babers or maybe even Campbell... or you go a rung down to the next group that may be those guys who are currently coordinators like Meachem, Frost, Riley or even Briles or Elliot.
