So we are halfway though the season. Is there a Wake county school that is a realistic state championship contender? I saw that Millbrook beat Wake Forest. I guess Garner is doing well like they usually do. Anybody else there who might make a run or does the drought continue for Wake county schools?

Wake Forest is a very solid title contender. If they had any sort of decent offense at all, that would be one scary team. The two other Eastern squads that have raised eyebrows so far are Middle Creek and Britt. Middle Creek doesn't have a history of making big games, so WF will have a huge experience edge on them if they end up meeting in the playoffs. Britt is nasty on defense (the best in the state so far in 2015) so they'll be able to hang around against pretty much anybody they play this year. Scoring enough points to win will be their challenge.

And as always, Richmond will be dancing the east/west line and Scotland will be dancing on both lines. Either one of them could end up in the 4AA East as well.

Garner stinks to high heaven. That team has 1st round exit written all over it.

Scots may dance on the line(East/West) but it'll be 4A again. Heard they are still around high 1700

Yes it should be small 4a, there is the East West cut though TBD.
Been very close last team east a few years in a row.

Not sold on Wake getting through the East this year. Defense is very good and it will be a struggle for anyone to score on them but very , very young on offense. 6 sophmores starting on offense I believe including 3 on the Oline and the QB. They have always been a run dominant offense and are probably more so this year. If a team can really play defense against the run they will give Wake some problems.

i doubt they would have u so for both sakes hopefully wake county does what they normally do in the finals if they make it

Wake Forest is solid. Defense attacks and they don't make mistakes on offense. Not a team that is going to score a lot but solid, well coached team.

Middle Creek is loaded with talent. Their offense can score a bunch but they are full of undisciplined mistakes. Their defensive secondary is as good as it gets. 3 of the 4 will play at a higher level. Their front seven are average and they have trouble against inside runs.

FV is solid.

Garner is down. Not the Garner we have known.
