They have a good shot at a 6-6 record cause they have depth and now it’s not about the players but good coaching, will they beat Ohio State well anything is possible. I just want them to close some of the gap like give these teams some trouble instead of getting blown out or beating themselves , beat Penn state and I call that progress .
I think our best shot is against Michigan, as Schiano’s teams always play them tough. PSU and OSU have our number.

It seems like we've been two years away for a decade now.
No flood and ash killled RU football Schiano has only 3 years under his belt on this go around . His first year he did not even have a chance to recruit. So adequate time on this BIG complete rebuild will be required …..and NIL money . As his players get through the pipeline you will see more winning. We are so close.

The delay is due to a failure to properly recruit the offensive positions since 2020. We had better talent at OL and WR in 2020 than we do now. That is on recruiting failures. We also didn't properly recruit the QB position. Still have some hope in Gavin Wimsatt but we sure did put all our eggs in that basket.

There's also the "no offensive coach wants to work with Schiano unless we massively overpay them" problem

But with the new rules you can change out half the roster or more in one off season. Look at Colorado. They turned over almost the whole roster. Or even 2 years.

Schiano has to recruit for 4 or 5 years to get his players doesn’t really fly anymore. He did a good job last time but lets see some progress. Not getting blown out by Maryland.

It’s not 2000 anymore folks. Things have changed a lot.

Awesome hire in luring Kent St. head coach Sean Lewis to Colorado OC. This game is no defense, all offense. Colorado is going to fit perfectly in the Big 12 where defense is not required. Also, if Schiano had a son who is as good as Sanders is at QB we'd already have 9 and 10 win seasons.

Gleeson was our number one target. We got him. Then Ciarrochia was our number one target and we got him. Whether or not we had to overpay or not is irrelevant. Look at the players we brought in at QB, WR, and OL from 2000 to 2022. 2022 OL has some promise and 2023 WR have some promise. Why wait 2 years to bring in some OL that are going to need an additional 2+ years to be ready?

It took Deion 1 offseason to significantly improve a 1-11 Colorado squad. And we re giving Schiano 6 years?

What’s wrong with this picture ?

Folks - with the transfer portal etc - patience is no longer a given or virtue !

Stop accepting mediocrity / excuses / the process etc !

Either he can recruit or cant! It’s time to put up ! Maximize the e transfer portal because we may regret it big time at qb this season !

One coach has the “it” factor. The other is an old school guy.

Schiano whiffed big time on getting an QB in the Transfer Portal. There was a big supply. Let’s hope Gavin improves this season. Greg has all his eggs in that basket.

We're not even looking at a similar turnaround in 4 years. And some of our fans call 4 years "instant results." Whether we get much in Year 4 still remains to be seen but I highly doubt it will involve beating Ohio State at the Horseshoe.

If you have the money to do so sure. Colorado paid a lot for those good transfers. Rutgers couldn't even afford a right tackle. They tried and got outbid for everyone they went after. That's not accepting mediocrity that's just accepting the monetary situation we're in.

You think Kirk was the first and top target? What was the delay for making the announcement?

Do you think maybe a lack of enthusiasm for the coach and lack of confidence plays a part in donors not wanting to ante up cash?

Yes. We went back with more money to get him back in NJ.
Okay not saying you’re wrong but that is one helluva long negotiation delay. Last regular season game for both teams was November 26. He wasn’t hired until January 7. And Schiano has been quoted as saying words that I stand by myself. “You don’t fire unless you know his replacement.”

I think Kirk can get it done. But I don’t think he was top or first.

I think OC KC was approached and said no. He uses our offer to get a raise.
Then we went through other options and struck out.

Then we went back to KC with more money and swayed him.
I don't personally care about him initially saying "no" but some people usually have a "only want people who want to be here" mentality. Maybe they don't when HC Schiano is involved?

Regardless of the process, I'm much more concerned about OC KC being on the list considering how run based his offense was last year and appears will be going forward.

Most of the talent went to the defense. Max Melton could easily have played offense. So at least now we have a top notch defense. Offense needs more talent. And the fixes are in the WR Class with Korey Duff, Ben Black, Crumpler, and others. And QB Surace.
So offensive help is on the way. Progress takes time at Rutgers due to lack of resources.

We don’t have the money Deion has. Colorado has tons of big money Boo$ter$ supporting the program. Time for fans to pony up or shut up.
