Iowa no offense. Maryland no defense.

There’s enough film to game plan these guys and scheme/script ready.

I’m no Rutgers Al but our running game and strong D will give us an edge I’m convinced.
Our best chance is against Iowa and it’s defense against defense. If we don’t make any mistake, we should win since we have more of a running game. We can beat Maryland but not a given.

You mean people "on here" expected! They are just the hard core miserables that we can't shake. Maybe when the season is over we can have everyone's "Top Three A**holes" thread. Tally them up and declare a winner (actually loser).
This would be fantastic (although I'm pretty sure 1 poster is the CLEAR leader going into the clubhouse).

Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium is a tough place for road teams. It’s been called “Where Top-5 Teams Go To Die”. Winning there will take a superb effort. Let’s hope we haven’t played our best ball yet.

Iowa- they win by you making mistakes, they can't win unless you make mistakes. Also don't let Cooper Dejean influence the game.

Maryland- they're going to out gain you but are going to make a ton of mistakes. It comes down to if you can capitalize on the mistakes. It's a very undisciplined team.

I think you can get one of two as both are seriously flawed. The only thing that makes me hesitate to say 2 of 2, is we've won every game we're supposed to, and are 6 for 6. Odds are one game we can win, we won't.

With the way Nebraska is playing, they have a chance for the W at home vs Maryland. If that happens, Maryland could be on a 6 game losing streak coming in to the last week.

That could happen. They have more playmakers on offense but RU will have a legit chance for a win, especially if they can force a couple of turnovers. The game at Iowa is a possible win but it will be a tough game out there.

I see us as better and more consistent then both. Iowa and Rutgers have the same floor but our ceiling is higher this year. Maryland has a higher ceiling but a much lower floor.

It will be interesting.

Last year doesn't mean squat THIS year. Completely different program/team right now.
No. Recruiting is recruiting. It just depends on what Maryland team decides to show up. As I said, I think we have a good chance this year, but our fans have been penciling this game in as a possible win for two years now and we have been embarrassed.

"recruiting is recruiting?" Who said ANYTHING about "recruiting?" But okay...how about this...."coaching is coaching." We have a HELL of a better staff than they do.

Nobody should give 2 ***** about "the last 2 years." Move on. I sure as hell hope the staff and team don't think that way!!! We were a beaten team by game 12 last year, mentally and physically, and ran into a Maryland team that took total advantage of it.

Go out there, play OUR game from the get-go, and it's a winnable game this year. Doesn't mean they can't or won't beat us, never said so, but nonetheless: winnable.

actually it's quite the opposite as people don't think highly of us or our record as we're barely receiving votes and tulane, jmu, liberty even bc have but not us. So it's not the 'miserables' here. Now ON HERE, people have an inflated opinion of our team so you got right and wrong

it's actually people like you and some of the other pollyanas that make this board miserable. You don't allow nor accept reasonable discussion. you suck plainly speaking and your end of season suggestion just shows how much of a douche you really are

We’ll see. Two years I have been hearing the same stuff. You’re back tracking in this post and hedging a lot so I think you agree with me.

What the heck did I "backtrack" on? I'll say exactly what I said earlier in the thread:

- Maryland is overrated (specifically by these boards)
- we are a (VERY) different team this year

....that ain't no "backtracking' my friend.

Let"s optimistically predict the unthinkable with a Rutgers loss to Ohio St and win last 3, Iowa, PSU, MD, Rutgers 9-3, 6-3 and Penn St 9-3, 6-3, losses to UM and RU, Rutgers finishes in 3rd place behind UM and Ohio St in the East, and possibly Overall in the B1G, tied or better than 1st place in the B1G West every team has 2 losses, Iowa, Minn, Wisc, Neb 3-2, and NW 2-3, ILL and Purdue 1-4. No one had that on their bingo card as a realistic finish to start the season but the way the season has played out it is a real possibility, the way Iowa, MD, and Penn St are playing and how good our defense is.
I don't see it but if Rutgers win 3 of last 4, I'll buy front page of the Targum and profess my undying loyalty to Greg and give 50k to the football team.

If we can beat Iowa, we can beat PSU. They both absolutely stink on offense. The game plan will likely be the same. We can't give the ball away and I think a win against PSU will require them to give us the ball. I don't think we need that against Iowa.

Tough to expect 2 clean games against 2 very good defenses.

I just don't see us having the necessary offense against Maryland if the good Maryland shows up.

Definitely winnable but when teams score under 20 points, either team can win. Maryland does have more talent, but they have terrible coaches. Not surprising when they brag about hiring based on skin color.

Penn State offense may not be great but it still ranked 10th in scoring at 38.9 points per game.

PSU isn't bad on offense. They're just not explosive. They're more of a classic run first big ten offense.
