One of the greatest coaches ever in North Carolina just passed away...HT TOBY WEBB of Albemarle died this afternoon..He was in his 90's and coached at Albemarle in the 50's. Won several WNCHS. CHAMPIONSHIPS.. Ran the single wing to perfection.....Also was a great educator....RIP COACH....

Buddy I lost my dad this year on September 2nd who was a senior and co-captain on Tony Webb’s first Albemarle team.
Coach Webb was a great coach and his 70's Albemarle teams are legendary!

Thanks for the read. Really enjoyed learning more about him. A true hero and a reason EVERYONE should stand for our National Anthem. Great job by Charles as well. Hopefully I can get a hold of a print edition somehow. I plan on being at Murphy and North Stanly next week so maybe I can head into Albemarle before hand
Absolutely correct and I apologize for the mistype. Coach Webb was a an innovator as well as a pioneer for many other coaches in his era.
