We need to have a baseball clinic for six packers. You know,

like the football camps that the coaches put on for women so they can learn a little about the game. Yes, we suck. But the incessant amount of bitching would be cut in half if some folks understood that if you take ball four on a hit and run, the runner going to second is forced to second base. I have a feeling that a few here don't really understand what being forced to second means though. I remember back in the golden days of MSU baseball, announcers would mention our "knowledgable fan base". That seems to be another facet of MSU baseball that has died.

Was a terrible decision.

The HnR in the 10th that didn't work with Henderson and Bradford wasn't that bad. However, the earlier one was bad.

amazing, the level of idiocy and lack of knowledge, that our fanbase has sunk to in baseball. We've got people that honestly believe we are a top 5 program, nationally, still...just because some fatass redneck sits in a broken-down 1950 Chevy pickup truck grilling hamburgers in the outfield. Jesus. Hey people, wake the 17 up. Our program is dead. Part of the blame falls on us. Our attendance is on par with 17ing Kentucky.

The vast majority of people lie in the middle between the small camp that doesn't like cohen and the small camp that thinks he does no wrong.

I hate the fact that he bunts so much. I hate giving away outs. As a coach, I loved for teams to bunt against us. If you coach your defense to always take the obvious out, and dont get caught up in trying to nail the runner they are trying to move over- teams that bunt wont hurt you. Teams get hurt by bunting when they try to make some big play on the lead runner, and they end up creating a big inning because they make an error throwing the ball away or not getting anyone out because they are so intent on getting the lead runner.

Now, granted, I havent had to coach with the new bats- so I can see how it might be a little more necessary. But I still dont like giving away outs. Bunting is for late game situations when the score is tied or you are down a run. But I batted 4th, 5th, or 6th from Little League to college- and ran like a plowhorse- so that probably has a huge effect on my thinking.

I haven't seen anyone say we're a top 5 program.

We're battling USM for second best program in MS, and we're losing that battle.

on video/M2M.

You can look at something on live stats, but it doesn't tell the entire story. Sometimes things make a lot more sense when you see things actually happen and play out rather than see it in black and white.

For example- a tell tale sign of a botched hit and run is a runner that looks back in at the batter to see if the ball is hit or not. That's something you wouldn't see on live stats. You see it on paper and you say "Well, why the hell is Cohen stealing there- what an idiot."

Our problems with baserunning a lot of times to me seem to be more execution issues than anything- making damn sure you get a bat on a ball during a hit and run, not swinging at an obvious ball four with a runner moving on a 3-1 count, etc. That's on the player and I think most of it is do to inexperience recently, but regardless it's eventually going to fall back on the head coach/manager just because that's the way it is. I'm sure that is going to continue to be a point of emphasis for the rest of this year and this upcoming offseason as well.

Is that we have way too many that say- "well, I'll go back when they go to Omaha again."

Good fans show up regardless.

I also think the athletic dept. needs to do a lot more to promote the baseball team as well. To me, it seems like everything is all about football at MSU right now.

Under LT, the athletic dept. fell into the trap of- "Oh- the baseball team will take care of itself." Could you imagine if Alabama or Kentucky had that attitude towards football and basketball?

I was listeningon the radio on my phoneand heard Ellis say Norris was taking off and Casey swung and missed and Norris was thrown out easily at 2nd. I just about chunked my phone out of my car. I knew it was a hit and run, and it was with probably the worst hitter in the lineup at the plateand the most injured guy in the lineup on 1st base.We weren't getting hits, and that freshman was getting a lot of swing and misses, especially with that changeup. You don't do that with Casey at the plate and a gimpyNorris at 1st. </p>
