He comes to bat (unless no one is on base or we are walking in runs). Indiana had good success taking the bat away from him and putting him on base. They seem to feed off him offensively.

I agree, situationally. Only if nobody is on base and he's not leading off an inning.

If Mitchell is pitching to him, I don't ever want to walk him. Mitchell is good enough to get him out.

Mitchell gave up a solid hit to him. It's not so much the idea of not wanting to pitch to him, it's sending the message that he is NOT going to beat us and force someone else to (last night, no one else did). So unless we are putting ourselves in a hole by loading the bases with less than 2 outs or walking in a run, I'd opt to put him on base.

and again, I agree, situationally. Bases empty or first base open, one or two outs, I consider it every time. But I wouldn't do it if it forces a run into scoring position, or if he's leading off an inning. And I know he got a hit off Mitchell, but I still like that matchup.

I'm

with you on the "not if less than an out" situation, too. Leadoff runners on base tend to equal bad things, for us (and everyone else).

Maybe we should give him the Mason Katz treatment. Got in the tigers head big time

I don't think I'd go that route... Not here. We see lsu every year. OSU, not so much. The messages we'd be sending are 2 different things. Katz was an *******. Conforto hasn't reached that, yet... But those damn beaver hands piss me off.
