Hasn't happened in a long, long time. What makes you think it will be any different going forward?

Just saying what are coaches s/b held accountable to. We have underachieved in recruiting since Callahan.

We'll be lucky to sniff top 30 this yr, with 3 weeks to go.

Say what you need to say to feel better... If we pull in all the recruits we are in on down the stretch and finish inside the top 20 you will be ecstatic, while WCC will be wringing his hands... Only way to make everybody happy is top 10.

This has nothing to do with "feeling better." This has everything to do with you Boleavers shunning the obvious evidence. You complain about a talent gap between NU and other B1G teams, yet, you condone ****** recruiting classes. Nebraska is not going to move up much. Bank on it.
Too bad you weren't on this board a couple months ago (cough), one of the posters here was willing to bet serious coin we would be at least top 25 and no one took him up on it.

Nice retort! Why don't you wait til this recruiting class is in the books, huh? That's all I've asked of every poster bitching about where we are at right now, BEFORE SIGNING DAY IS UPON US!!!!

CocksANDBeards, huh? Wow, you really are running out of names...

The rankings are based upon the top 20 recruits, and we are currently being punished for only having 15. We'll make a sizable jump with just 5 warm bodies.

Running out of names? lol. no.

And it's fun to watch you get upset. It was much funnier to watch you have to apolgize to me because you were wrong. You were wrong then, and you're wrong now.

Stew in it.
Funnier still is your admission that you keep getting banned... I freely admit when I mess up. Sometimes I have to calm down a little bit if I'm wrong I'll own up to it.

So what's your story? Why the new name? What did you get banned for this most recent time?

Edit: and how am I wrong now? Saying to wait til the recruiting cycle officially ends to proclaim this a bad class makes me wrong? Educate me... I look forward to it.

to meet expectations. We have the 11th most valuable program now and will move up once we get full revenue share.

How would you explain Iowa they are a sniffing distance behind us according to the WSJ and their recruiting class isn't in the Top 20.....

Trust me, I will be completely satisfied with top 20, but I will have to see these guys close on a few recruits first. Plus, it sounds like Alexander may be gone (Rutgers).

OK. We should wait another 3 weeks. Then you'll blame Pelini for Riley sucking ballsacks for 2 consecutive years --- recruiting-wise, of course. He did manage to win 6 games in his first season at Nebraska, even though it required the first-ever 5-7 team playing in a bowl game. Thumbs up!

I keep getting banned because the folks that run this website can not handle the truth. I rarely break any rules (certainly less than the fatso, west omaha cliche), but I get banned EVERY time.

Do you feel as if I'm currently breaking rules? If so, which one? And please remember your answer for when I come back as CocksANDBears2. Because I'm so ****ing original.
A few, but they are often overlooked it seems... Language and personal attacks against a specific poster. I know who you mean because I've seen them before, which may qualify as trolling as well.

Having said that, I think you get singled out pretty quickly, I'm guessing because the mods know who you are.

The value of the program, as determined by its revenue, has little correlation with recruiting. Programs that make more money will have more resources to dedicate to recruiting, but that's about it, and resources alone don't secure commits. So I don't know where you are getting this idea that Nebraska is falling short of expectations based on this metric.

Do you think it has anything to do with lack of exposure in Texas since y'all sent BIG?
Just a question. I don't know if Texas kids had a big part in y'alls recruiting classes prior to y'all separating from the Big12 & the evil empire in Austin or not.

We weren't heavy into Texas but I do think we have had to try and open new recruiting grounds in the upper midwest and the east. That is not going to happen overnight. I think this is especially true when our coaches are west coast guys. The bigger issue may be that Missouri, Kansas, Colorado and Oklahoma are now much harder gets in that we don't play in those states anymore.

Nebraska was always able to get a few kids from Texas most years, but concerning the title teams of 94, 95, 97, there were more difference makers from the state of Nebraska than probably 15 years of getting kids from Texas. Not that Nebraska should stop recruiting there, need to get as many good players as they can, no matter where they are from.

Lol what a convenient time to pop your little y'all into the conversation. Y'all think your even more pathetic failure has anything to do with Nebraska not being in y'all (is this the correct usage of "y'all"?) conference anymore? Sorry - not even sure if your're a longhorn fan but it's hilarious that you decide now is the time to pop in and show your rust brown face.

This IS a new era, don't expect to consistently ranked inside top 15 if you consistently rank outside the top 25 in recruiting. If our standards drop to 25th in recruiting, we should expect to not be ranked half the time. At some point, our value will drop to 25th as well. So far, Solich, Pelini, and now Riley are under performing when it comes to recruiting.

I believe it was $5,000 for top 30, might have even been we'd finish better than 38 or something like that with one poster, pretty sure it was offered to a couple different posters. I'd have to look it up but that's what I recall. You're right though, nobody took me up.

I sure hope that's the case, all other signs seem to point he won't sign with NU.

Texas has never been a dominate state for us, outside of a year or two with Peelini.

I have always measured winning and losing in recruiting class rank by comparing final AP ranking against the following class ranking. For example: if NU finishes #20 in the final AP and then we sign the #15 class; that to me is a "win" for the coaching staff. However if we finish at #20 in the final AP and then sign the #32 ranked class; that is a "loss" for the coaching staff. You should be able to recruit to your AP ranking.

That is my personal standard. :)

GBR!

N just went 6-7 if you haven't checked.. N has to be a top 15 team just to consistently crack the top 25 in recruiting

I see no reason to believe that Nebraska is a top 10 destination in all of college football. 15-20 at best. Thiis staff will need to be hard working, money spending, dynamic recruiters to land a top 10 class every 2-3 years.
