Best thing in the world was stopping in a country store years ago on a hot summer afternoon and getting an ice cream sandwich and a bottle coke.......I know you remember.
I always got a bomb pop when I was a kid whenever we stopped by one of the country stores. Those things were so good.

I spend extra for the Mexican bottle of Coke every so often when I’m wanting one for this very reason
I sell Mexican Cokes in the restaurant. People seek us out because we have them. There is a massive difference between it and regular coke.

That said I would imagine the average American prefers Corn Syrup Coke because that's what they're used to drinking. But the average American also makes McDonald's number 1 in restaurant sales, Modelo Especial (skunk piss) number 1 in beer, and somehow had Two and a Half Men as the number one show on TV while Arrested Development got cancelled. TLDR-The average American is an absolute dipshìt.

Ice cream sammiches in the 80s were made with real sugar and just hit different
some of this crap you get now, you can leave the whole thing out on the counter and it doesn't melt. it warms up, but mostly stays solidish.
that can't be good...

Bear in mind that when your @$$ gets old food items taste differently. So, blaming the corporate food manufacturers for taking away the flavor may not necessarily be accurate.
Not in this case.

Horseshack, while a SPS repeat offending dubmass, is right on this one, as am I.

Simply read the ingredients on your ice cream, and do a side-by-side comparison on sugar-creaminess vs syrup-icy crystal concrete hardness, and he’s spot on on that observation.

Yeah your tastes change but in 1970 ice cream and soda content labels did not contain words you cant pronounce. That's just the facts. And why do they put different stuff in American food than Mexico Canada etc ?? Its not because the American public asked for it. I know one of you will say that.

“If you can’t pronounce it, don’t eat it” is an incredibly stupid reasoning.

You also have to keep in mind the reason why soft drinks switched to HFCS was because of price. Reagan put heavy tariffs on imported sugar.

Theres not some nefarious reason, it was to cut costs.

I’m sure you boomers will get pissed off but if you did a blind taste test you couldn’t tell the difference between a cane sugar coke and a HFCS coke. It’s all in your head.

I don’t know if corn is one of your crops or not, but this take is just as wrong as your ridiculous insistence that corn-derived ethanol has no bad effects on small/offroad/marine engines.

Yep, had an old Commissary store right beside my house and even better we had a charge account there!

Cool fact about that store; it became Hoddings Motel in the Crossroads movie with Ralph Machio, Joe Seneca, and Jamie Ghertz.

I guess you can take that anyway you want but there are tons of ingredients added in food products that were not added 40 years ago. As well as many ingredients that are banned in most other countries. Yeah, banned ingredients but it's fine for us.

There are things banned in the US that are still allowed in Europe and vice versa. The US and Europe have different ideologies on food standards. Neither is necessarily superior to the other.

They have broken the banana down into all the vitamins minerals and anti oxidation etc. Everything there is natural. You dont see any added sugars dyes or preservatives of course. But let's conflate the two.

The point is It’s chemicals, just like chemicals in all food. You’re trying to scare yourself over nothing.
