When a coach at the University of Kentucky makes an asinine statement like that after his 4th straight loss to a team picked to finish 12th in the ACC, something has to be said to him.

We are the WINNINGEST program in college basketball(for now). His shtick is wearing thin on a fan base that is used to beating everyone. For $10 million/year, he should FEEL obligated to keeping the UK tradition alive, instead he mocks fans.

I’m growing tired of it and I know a few Bigtime Donors that are also. Cal hears EVERYTHING, don’t let his comments fool you.

Cal hears it all, he's just too into himself to allow you to think you matter to him.

Cal is all ears on this.

I think he needs an attitude adjustment at least. I think he has become too comfortable in his position. That's only my opinion but I think he takes this program for granted. This program was big before there ever was a Calipari. I appreciate what he has done to date but he is mistaken if he thinks he is bigger than this program. This program will be around long after John Calipari just like it was before John Calipari. Facts are facts,
You nailed it. Kentucky fans understand this...people that have become fans of Kentucky SINCE Calipari came to Lex don't understand it. Well stated!

I try to be a rational fan. You’re the first person since I’ve been posting on here that’s accused me of being one of those people. I’ve taken up for players and Cal numerous times. Idk if you realize it but you sound like a complete *******, whether you mean to be or not. Life’s to short for that man. Kick back, drink a cold beverage of your choice and stop attacking people constantly.
You sound like a good dude. I do mean to come off that way at posters that constantly attack the program. I've loved having Cal here and he's done a fantastic job in my opinion. I apologize to you personally if I said something to offend you. I don't like losing conversation with rational posters. I do enjoy making the "others" mad though. Have a good evening.

The sad part of all this: Cal told everyone what his priorities were from day one, get kids to the NBA in a year. I didn’t like it then, and I don’t like it now. But as long as he was making final fours, most just accepted it as genius. But who in their right mind thought that was the way to run a program? Well, it’s gone completely sour, and Cal is still defending it and ignoring the obvious. How many CEO’S have you seen act the same just before abandoning ship? He won’t stay much longer, and for me, much is too much. He is a washed up used car salesmen at best.
I remember his bragadocious speeches about banners and parades. How that UK was the gold standard and that UK WAS the needle.
Then it started changing. He is content and too stubborn to care or change. This quote proves it.

Oh you have a right to judge for sure. The sad part is you only say things when its negative. You let your emotions run on a singular game or event. Take in the whole picture of what Cal has done here. Has he made mistakes? Sure, but wouldn't anyone?
That’s a lie. Anyone that’s familiar with my posts know that too. Only bad thing I’ve said about Cal is that I don’t agree with how he builds rosters (I wish he built them like he did in the past), and I haven’t liked what he has said in the media recently. I try to be honest and have complimented Cal numerous times over the years.

Generational poverty. Lmao!!!!!

He’s coaching spoiled, entitled, modern day college basketball AAU kids. None of these kids are being “pulled out of poverty”.

Cal is a liar.

“helping guaranteed millionaires become millionaires since 2009.”

Cal coaches college basketball. If it was about helping kids in poverty he’d be at a high school somewhere.

People should have never let him go that route. It’s disgusting and a disgrace to those of us that work with youth in inner cities. Cal is a charlatan.
Spot Freaking on. The guys a complete phony. You want to help people do it ferociously/humbly and don’t say **** about what you do.PERIOD

I’ve been labeled a sunshine pumper and cal apologist in the past, and don’t get me wrong, I don’t want him fired and such like others.

However, games like the last few and comments like these make it very hard for even his biggest supporters to be happy.

I actually didn’t even watch 2/3 of the game today I really had no interest. Tuned in around the last 10 mins of second half as they were making their run. Honestly can’t remember the last time I had no interest in watching UK. Maybe under Gillespie there was a game or two. This group is hard to watch man. And regardless of what anyone says, at least part of that is on Cal.

That GARBAGE needs to stop. I've grown sick of his Podium preseason speeches at Big Blue Madness. Cut that garbage out and start coaching like you WANT TO WIN A NCAA TITLE!

Oh and one more thing. I know I make you angry. You get angry at 18 year old children playing a game and at a 60 year old coach who will never know your name. So yeah, you get angry. Hahahahahahahahaahahahahah

You can say things like that while deep inside you are praying for it to turn around. I'm sure there is some truth to him not listening to a lot of chatter, griping, etc. At Kentucky you hear it whether you want to or not, it's all over the sports world news. Getting down to an unranked team by as many as they did today at home is something Kentucky is not used too, not to mention a 1 and 4 record with more losses to come soon. I support the players and the program but it's clear he needs to take a hard look at the kind of turnover we have every year, it's not how we became the all time leader in wins. He has done a good job over all here but I'm sure he wouldn't want to be the coach that lost the lead in all time wins no matter how many go to the NBA.

Brother I truly am not trying to be rude at all, but if one can’t see what is happening to this program, is not being honest with themselves. Look at his recruiting approach CBB is littered with ky boys that are shooters and just can flat play and he refuses to recruit or if he does he parks at the end of the bench. His shtick is done he’s been exposed and he knows it. He’s a **** bench coach and now his approach of overwhelming opponents with talent is gone, hence we have a 11-17 type of year

Agreed.

This is my predictions. Once the fan base turns on him enough for him to no longer be able to ignore, he’ll be gone.

I love seeing grown men accept **** results because they can’t accept their man crush is clouding their judgement.

If you like, the university of John calipari train is loading up and about outa here.

get a ticket. If you move fast he won’t scream at you to RUN.

Dude you quoted definitely has issues. He gaslights and projects. A lot.

Literally any conversation or discussion that isn’t Pollyanna super duper positive=whining and crying blah blah blah. Also, he refers all college aged men as “children”.

Calipari: "Losing games in a row here is like a national disaster. I don't buy it. I'm not buying it. Whether we win or lose, I don't pay attention to it." #BBN #ukbasketball
So arrogant he's tone deaf. Who does he think he is? This isn't the University of Calipari. This isn't his program, it's ours. He shouldn't have some knee jerk reaction to us but he shouldn't act like we don't matter either. I'm losing respect for him by the day.

He has no idea how to actually coach, look at his offensive sets and his out of bounds plays. That tells you everything. High pick-n-roll come off of it and make something happen if not he then screams at the guy that couldnt do his thing

I agree with a lot of this. I'm baffled at the Ky boys approach, Allen in particular. We could of also used Juzang and even Baker this year. Those things upset me sure. I also agree that his bench coaching isn't very good and I don't agree with the hiring of Bruiser either. I think this team will be good, eventually. I don't think we can win a title with this bunch but I think we win a couple games in the tourney. I know, we're Kentucky and we can't be happy with that but this is a strange year and nobody is title contenders every year. I see what you're saying though.

I think its a non-issue. Why would he care? He coaches his team and does what he and the staff think is right. The fans reactions to those results are totally irrelevant to him and his staff and should be. I didn't say he and the staff didn't care. I said they should care less about your (fans) opinions on him, the team, a player, a play or a result.

Deer Turk, being a UK fan for over 70 years, and attending UK. I can tell you that fans reactions to losses are NOT totally irrelevant to him. If they were, he would not have said he didn't pay attention to what fans say, in his post game show. We fans pay his salary, not with ticket sales, but with our donations to the K FUND. Donations are a big part of UK, and will continue to be. Let me explain to you, "NO COACH IS ABOVE UK BASKETBALL, NOT EVEN CAL. We will get whoever we want, with few exceptions. Brad Stevens would be a coach we would go after, and get. I believe he makes around 22 thousand for 5 years. We would pay him 5 or 6 thousand per year as a starter or more if it took it. NEVER UNDER ESTIMATE UK BASKETBALL.

Absolutely, and they have a way of making life a little more difficult. The contract really is a concern though. Mitch gave him too much leverage. It would be great to see the actual contract to see if there are any outs. I just don’t see him walking away from that kind of money. The folks that could apply pressure would have to embarrass him in ways that would bring him to the table for a buyout.

So this is the I hate Cal and want him fired thread. I love seeing so many grown dudes whine and cry. It's like working a middle school dance and listening to kids talk about who's doing and saying what. hahahahah
I've never said a word about wanting Cal fired or what he needs to change or any of things people complain about. But that quote is some straight up ********.

Wasn't he was bitching about the fans wanting tougher schedules a few games ago?

That quote is getting in the neighborhood of "I'm just here to coach basketball" that was the last straw for Billy Clyde.

I didn’t say Cal was a bad coach, but recently he’s made comments to the media that he shouldn’t say. As far as having any more conversations with you I’d rather not. You’re very immature and you constantly attack people. I have no respect for that.

It’s honestly best not to engage his childish banter. I succumbed at first but learned my lesson quickly.

i will share and I am friends with each family, so maybe I have some bias, but CJ Frederick/Sean NcNeil and Adam Kunkel all three could easily play for us. I do know for a fact he never recruited the first two and told Kunkel he could come but he probably would not play. Look at other teams and you absolutely have to have these kind of players. This has been his downfall and his eminent demise imo.

Cal makes foolish statements sometimes, saying this after starting season 1-4 is certianly one of them. Can’t imagine what he would hope to gain from this kind of statement, one would think he woulde better served to concentrate on making his team better than antagonizing his fans. Cal does understand what UK is so this statement is even more mystifying to me.
