From what I seen last night it seem like Hickory’s defense kept giving up more big plays as the game went. Especially in the 4th. I was thinking perhaps Hickory defense was just wearing down.

Hickory has a great offense no doubt. Erwin had a great offense, Dudley had a great offense. Folks are underrating WC defense. HS football is year to year. WC defense is elite while Hickory has no shut outs and has given up 49points last two weeks against good offensive comp. That's alarming. WC offense will be elite vs. Hickory just as it was elite vs. Dudley.
I am not underrating WCs team, esp. their defense.
But comparing hickory offense to Erwin and Dudley is just a terrible comparison. Ask Dudley last year about that offense. It’s better this year.
Hickory defense is not strong…easy to see that. I think this game will be in the 30-28 range.

Stober will carve ice sculptures with a chain saw on West Charlotte’s defense.

Ice Ducks…ever dam where! 🦆
Stober has been living this day for a while now.

I don’t think it’ll be a shut out but I do think WC wins by more than people think. FACT: It would NOT be the first time an undefeated team averaging over 50 points a game got shut out in the western final at home if it did happen.
No…but this Hickory team has beaten and absolutely controlled a LOT of good teams over the last 2 years. Crest is a really, really good team that is well coached. No answer for this offense. They ain’t got pretenders on their defense either. Hickory definitely has some spots on offense to attack and I’m sure WC licking their chops thinking about taking advantage of the OL, and that will be crucial for WC success. Nobody has come close to stopping them the last 2 years, right?

They won by only 3 points last night.

It was said that no one has close to beating them n two years. Would you say that three points is close?
I never made that statement, yes, I would say that three points is close. Last year, Hickory beat WC by one, I think, that is also close, but they did beat them.

He said no one has come close to stopping them. They have had some close games though. Last year Dudley and 71st played them very tight. This year Crest was up most of the game and then North Lincoln hung with them last night. But that was an 18 point game with 2 minutes left. NL just wouldn’t quit.

It was said no one has stopped their offense in 2 years. They've had several close games the past 2 years.
So, why is it a debate. I'm going to let you all believe what you want to believe. What is the point of doing so other than wasting energy and time. I value both to much to waste it on trying to get anyone to see anything beyond what they believe. You're locked in.

For the umpteenth time in this forum the 2024 WC Lions is a completely different team than the 2023, 2022 and all before them type of team.

Please stay locked in on your beliefs.
They are all very different teams, many of them return talent at key positions. We discuss football, here, as fans. We enjoy it, it's really simple, you believe what you believe and I will continue to believe what I believe. It's ok, really.

It's a football forum to talk football. I'm a Hibriten fan. West Charlotte and Hickory have both kicked our butt recently so the game could end in a scoreless tie and I wouldnt care. I just want to see a good ballgame and talk a little about it.

Lol, the only point he was trying to make was that Hickory has played close games. He just got mixed up on who they beat. It was Dudley, by 1. That was not a shot at West Charlotte. Go Lions!

Hickory haven't seen a defense like West Charlotte, they have the DBs to guard your WRs Man to Man starting at the line of scrimmage. Their Blitz packages and their strength at the line to bull rush towards the QB. They gang tackle very well too. And they will stop the run. They didn't give Dudley's WRs and space all night. Those Dudley WRs are going to Wake Forest (Bartley), Howard University (Neely) and Liberty University (Newkirk). Hickory couldn't stop them last year....But West Charlotte did. Stateville, North Lincoln and East Lincoln isn't anywhere lighting fast and physical as what Hickory will see this Friday. Then their Offense with that QB, he is like a Micheal Vick, but a pinpoint throwing arm to sure handed elusive WRs. This will be the fastest physical discipline team Hickory has ever seen the past 2 years. They beat Charlotte Chambers 33-7, Hunter Huss 47-0, Conference Champs Dudley 39-13, 4A Conference Champs Charlotte Palisades 36-6, Conference Champs Erwin 58-0. Their only loses came to Charlotte Hough and a 1pt Loss to Charlotte Mallard Creek 13-12. Dudley had only given up 22 pts in 13 games, but WC scored 39 on them. Hickory QB will not have time to sit back to throw. And Lackey will have to fight for every inch to gain yards.

Hickory’s QB is too good and he will actually hit his wide receivers. Dudley’s quarterbacks aren’t good and they barely got it to their wide receivers. When they tried #0 for the first time in the first half he scored. West Charlotte has to get pressure on Stober or he’ll make you pay.
Dudley QBs J. Crawford was 127-150/2,064/27Tds/2ints/ 158.8%......B. Jefferies 97-136/1,547/19tds/4ints/ 136.8%.....J. Jones 11-15/105.4%...All was first year starters as Juniors and 3RD String Soph. Crawford QB Rating was better than B. Stober 162-197/3,238/38tds/5ints at 151.7% You also didn't put in that Dudley didn't try to score in the second half of most of their games (they just ran the ball in the 3rd and 4th.....until the JM Robinson and West Charlotte Games, while Hickory was still scoring and padding stats throughout many of their game in the 4th qts. If that is AREN'T GOOD.....Then I must be loss. lmbo!!! Dudley had 3,780 yards to 3,238 for Hickory through 13 games, not counting Fridays games. West Charlotte blitz Dudley QBs, and I am sure Stober isn't more faster than Dudley's QBs in the running dept. Dudley's Jefferies had 500 yards rushing alone for the season.

Stats never tell the full story. Good stats but they don’t have nearly the arm talent or decision making that Stober has. Your wideouts would’ve gotten the ball more had they had someone like Stober.

WC poses a big challenge for HHS. I'm sure our coaches will have to game plan a little different and our OL will definitely have their hands full with the DL of WC. I'm also sure our coaching staff is not looking past the Lions either. That's why we play the game. I'm hoping for an exciting and close game this coming Friday night and an injury free game for all of the kids that play. It looks as if it will be another cold evening as well.

Both offenses are explosive, this game will come down to which defense is better ast stopping the other teams high scoring offense..

These types of potential high scoring games a defense needs 2 to 3 key stops while their offense HAS to match a score for every stop or at least 2 out of 3.

I just don't know if Hickory can handle the relentless pressure WC will pose next week. It’s hard to prepare for it if you are not used to it. I will pull for Hickory but I think WC wins by a couple TDs.
If you can pressure Stober and not allow him to escape the pocket that to me is key to limiting that offense. Crest did it for a few possessions but couldn't the whole game.
