On the plus side, WVU no longer has to decide whether or not to play Doege in a bowl game and burn his redshirt.
Doege has looked really good so far but near the end OSU was blitzing big time and Doege didn't look as good then. So that's something they can work on. I'm still glad they redshirted him.
Although there are still big lapses on defense now and then (like Texas Tech scoring a TD on their first five possessions), WVU is developing a strong defense. Although they missed a few tackles today, they generally tackle well. They don't miss many and also, when they do tackle they usually prevent the ballcarrier from falling forward for a yard or two extra. I think that's good coaching.
The announcers commented today on how well the WRs are covered. How often on a fleaflicker do you see a sack? Not often but we saw one today and I suspect that's because our DBs read it well and the QB had no one to throw it too.
People that liked the 45-41 games may end up not liking the current regime but it's okay by me. I don't need flashy stuff, I just like good football, even if it's good defense and lower scoring games.
And I've yet to see WVU loafing on defense (or offense for that matter). The guys are buying in and playing hard.
And they mentioned Murph Tinsley (I could have that last name wrong), the guy that took video from the endzone at the WVU games. I had never heard of him until the other day when I read a long article about him in The Athletic. Lots and lots and lots of former WVU players had good things to say about him in that article.
