—Oklahoma State was better Saturday. On special teams they had good punt coverage. Field position in the second half was bad and the fumbled punt was bad. They got them in one on one battles up front on offense and way too many negative plays. They played behind the chains all day. They played well enough to win on defense but a couple penalties hurt them. They had a late hit and they had them pinned down and they let them get out. The other thing defensively was their touchdown drives were on short fields.
—Kansas State is playing their best football of the year with a three game winning streak. They’ve been able to turn it around. Going into Manhattan is a young place to play. Special teams wise they’re always solid. They do a good job with their walk on program and they show up on special teams. Kickoff return team is special. Punt return they’ve always done a nice job there. Offensively their OC does a good job with matchups. It starts with Deuce Vaughn. They do a good job getting him isolated in the run game and pass game. Skylar Thompson is the biggest difference he is a tough kid and a good decision maker. He makes plays with his feet as well. Not very many negative plays on offense. They have a different look on defense. They’ve got really good length. They’re playing well and going to be a big challenge to go on the road.
—Offensively they played really well against Iowa State but they didn’t play well against Oklahoma State and they lost one-on-ones. They would have had to play at their best to compete and they got after them. They better bring their a game.
—They use Vaughn in one-on-one matchups and it’s a tough matchup in the passing game. Knowles is playing really well right now and you get him in the right matchups it’s a tough cover.
—Dixon will be doubtful and Woods will be fine. Esdale will be touch and go. We’re going to see how he progresses with two upper body injuries.
—It starts up front with the defensive line. They’re rotating more guys in there and Josh Chandler is playing well when it comes to stopping the run.
—Brown likes getting home earlier with the early starts and you have to prepare for it throughout the week.
—Kansas State will play predominantly a three man front. They’ve gone almost exclusively that.
—That will be Graeson’s job on punt returns. He took his eyes off it for one second but then he went out and caught the next one. He has to have a short memory.
—Brown said the fans prefer night games. Unfortunately hasn’t been able to experience one. He was hoping they’d be able to kick it off.
—The team knows what it is with bowl eligibility but he just wants them to play up to their capability. If they play the game the right way over the next three weeks and hopefully they end up eligible.
—It’s good for the extra practices and exposure to make a bowl game.
—when you run the ball you bring people down and they have some players that can really run. They’ve done a nice job with explosive plays.
—Brown said he doesn’t know about getting Crowder reps. He had a good night last night but they’ll see how it goes.
—Skylar Thompson isn’t running as much as he did. His accuracy has really improved. He’s always had a strong arm. A lot of those explosive plays have been on extending plays.
—Quarterback didn’t play well. But that’s the case for every position on offense. They didn’t do a good job enough job getting rid of it. They had three sacks that were unavoidable.
