I think so, and will Vanderbilt ever get another chance? We'll see. They signed a 5* QB out of high school.A 16-team bracket would have added Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Texas, and BYU, and I think most everyone would have been fine with that.
Yeah that made absolutely no sense. They should have just left bama out and pushed Miami in, if they just wanted an acc school inAbsolutely as corrupt as it gets.
Again, they’ve been setting this up for weeks, with no justification whatsoever. They jumped Miami over Vandy - for no reason -weeks ago. They kept them ahead of them after Vandy boatraced a Tennessee team that’s better than any team Miami’s played except ND.Yeah that made absolutely no sense. They should have just left bama out and pushed Miami in, if they just wanted an acc school in
Its pure corruption when you change the last team in the field based solely on DEI for the P4 leagues. So yes, you can argue quite a bit with it.Huh? I mean it is, but can you really argue much with the 12 they round up with? I’d Personally put Notre dame in over Alabama. But it’s close. Who really cares?
Yeah its' some ******** and they could have avoided some of the rematches (Tulane/Whiney Bitches, Bama/Oklahoma). Plus, they could've swapped UGA and OSU to avoid an Ole Miss/UGA rematch.Absolutely as corrupt as it gets.
Miami should have been ahead of Notre Dame all along. The only reason Notre Dame was there was they had their usual overinflated preseason ranking.Again, they’ve been setting this up for weeks, with no justification whatsoever. They jumped Miami over Vandy - for no reason -weeks ago. They kept them ahead of them after Vandy boatraced a Tennessee team that’s better than any team Miami’s played except ND.
Now the most obvious corruption of all, they move Miami ahead of ND when not only did neither of those teams play this past weekend, but no team on either of their schedules played either.
You can say all you want about Miami winning the head to head. But that’s been known for months, and yet ND had been ahead in the rankings for weeks and weeks after Miami added their terrible losses. This is just comical.
Bama also beat Georgia during the season. The only team that has a better win is Indiana. The precedent was set last year, they aren’t going to punish a team for losing its conference title game. Notre Dame doesn’t have a win that is even close to that.3 loss bama got beat by 14 by 5-7 Florida state And still gets in. just as a fan I think ND could beat any team in the field and is probably #3#4 seed. This is corrupt as hell.
ESPN is The sec , that’s a problemThe problem with bama is the committee does not want to punish the conference championship game…. Or rather espn does not want to have the championship games go away. But we all have eyes and saw Bama get pounded yesterday.
So taking him at his word, what he’s saying is we have so little confidence in our rankings that we can’t tell you if #10 is better than #12 or not, even when they’ve played each other.Hunter Yuracheck saying that the committee couldn’t evaluate Miami’s head to head win over Notre Dame until those teams were side by side in the rankings was ridiculous. Reece Davis was trying hard to keep from rolling his eyes while that idiot was talking. They just make up schitt to justify getting the teams they want in. Miami has been behind Notre Dame all season and now in the last week when neither of them played, Miami jumps over them because of reasons.
Thinking Notre Dame should be in over Bama is fine.I think ND could beat any team in the field and is probably #3#4 seed. This is corrupt as hell.
Notre Dame by any measure is in the top half of teams selected for the playoff. Vegas had them in the top four odds on favorites to win it all. They are a very good team right now, this is rank corruption.Thinking Notre Dame should be in over Bama is fine.
Thinking Notre Dame should be the 3 or 4 seed is 17ing assinine. They played 2 games versus teams in the playoff (no. 7 seed Texas A&M and no. 10 seed Miami). They lost BOTH games, but you're enraged because you think ND is a 3 or 4 seed????? That is nonsense.
That says it all right there. For those 5 weeks, neither team lost, and neither team beat anyone that finished ranked in the final CFP Top 25. One team moves up EIGHT spots, one somehow moves back one spot.
Completely agree. They just do it so ESPN can have a weekly selection show and then can have something to talk about for a week. ESPN basically controls college football. The basketball selection committee doesn’t put out a bracket every week starting in February. It’s silly. Just release one bracket at the end of the season. This process is hurt by having the rankings revealed weekly. There would be a lot less controversy if this were the only set of rankings released.
Maybe, maybe not. But the fact is…..they weren’t. And you can’t 17ing change that at the 11th hour when there is no new data available. Period.Miami should have been ahead of Notre Dame all along. The only reason Notre Dame was there was they had their usual overinflated preseason ranking.
Political lobbying by Miami was ridiculous, and I can’t see any way a 3 loss Bama who loses to by 14 to 5-7 FSU gets in over nd.That says it all right there. For those 5 weeks, neither team lost, and neither team beat anyone that finished ranked in the final CFP Top 25. One team moves up EIGHT spots, one somehow moves back one spot.
Straight up collusion.
For years, I’ve said everything you just said about ND needing to join a conference. So, I get it.The mistake is thinking the rankings mean anything before selection Sunday. They clearly aren’t as important as we’d like to believe.
ETA: If ND doesn’t like it, they only have themselves to blame. Join a conference. This is the cost of being independent. You aren’t bigger than the sport.
Point taken, but it’s a committee. By definition it’s collusion. That’s the point of having a committee. No matter what you do as long as it’s a poll, writers, ADs, 3rd grade boys on the playground, it doesn’t matter, you will have controversy. Until it’s just win loss on the field in a standardized schedule this is what you have. A ******** system. That says it all right there. For those 5 weeks, neither team lost, and neither team beat anyone that finished ranked in the final CFP Top 25. One team moves up EIGHT spots, one somehow moves back one spot.
Straight up collusion.
The Utah and USC would bltch.A 16-team bracket would have added Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Texas, and BYU, and I think most everyone would have been fine with that.
Thinking Notre Dame should be in over Bama is fine.
This is why I dont pay much attention to the CFP rankings until the regular season is over. I dont watch the selection shows, but they used to say the committee starts from scratch every week. So the prior rankings tell you very little. The mistake is thinking the rankings mean anything before selection Sunday. They clearly aren’t as important as we’d like to believe.
