In regard to realistic candidates, I could see an Archie Miller being an option.
i hope not. that guy is a hell of a coach--maybe better than sean. i could see him at uk someday, but not if he stops at duhvil first.

For a recruit who would testify under oath that he'd never had sexual intercourse before going on the recruiting trip to U. of L., and that he did have sexual intercourse with a prostitute while on a recruiting trip to U. of L., and that he felt pressured in the situation, etc., etc. . . . IMHO, yes. Seems to me that the case gets much weaker if the recruit can't testify under oath that he'd never had sexual intercourse before going on the recruiting trip to U. of L.
If he was under age,age of consent may be 16 and if the other party was 21 or more then they (UL) might have a problem. This whole thing could get messy in a hurry.Pitino and even Jurich may not survive this .

You might even make the case that whoever arranged the set up held a "position of special trust". If the story is even close to true there are criminal implications all over the place.

The big difference you're missing: a fraternity does not generate millions of dollars of revenue for the university. A big time basketball program does. Makes one a lot easier to shut down than the other.

Maybe the part of the Ohio River that runs past Louisville should be changed to Denial River. J/S because they are in denial

Kenny Payne and Coach O would have to be on the list...

Cuanzo Martin--relatively young...very good recruiter...if he gets Cal on any kind of competitive track he will be on a lot of lists...

Wojo...would be an opportunity for him to do something in a P5 conference...

Rick Stansbury...would be a short term contingency plan in case no one is interested...he could hold the fort for a few years while the program recovers...

Utah's Coach K--seems to be a turn around/rebuild kind of guy...which may well be what UL needs...

Steve Masiello--probably wouldn't take a lot of convincing...passionate...obvious kentucky and UL ties...

Bruce Pearl--loves to be the antagonist to Cal...can recruit at a high level...really good coach...players seem to like him and want to compete for him...

Anthony Grant--will be what they need...discipline, clean record, well respected...

Tom Crean--might not have much time left at IU...would be a great opportunity for him to rebound...take over another program coming off some trouble...not a lot of pressure or expectations...

I don't believe he knew specific details. He almost certainly knew McGee was taking care of recruit "entertainment," and accepted a "plausible deniability" role in what was happening.

Possibly, but Rick is a known control freak. He micro-manages everything. That is why he never made it as a Pro Coach. It is just hard for me to imagine that he had a recruit on campus, as important as JaQuan Lyle was, and did not have his entire visit orchestrated. Do you think he suddenly remembered that he had not heard of the whereabouts of Lyle, for a few hours, called McGee, and was told, "Oh, he has been checking out the library and the Study Halls" It is like McGee told Katina, "Rick knows everything." Part of the self-imposed penalties, trying to avoid the full wrath of the NCAA, and the media, will be Rick falling on his sword. Not because he is guilty, mind you, but for the "good of the program." Then you will see little Rick ascend to the throne. And the beat will go on, because that is how Jurich operates. Win at any and all costs, regardless of whether it is right or wrong. And don't look to Ramsey to change anything. All you have to do is look at the mess he is in to see that he is totally devoid of any scruples.

LOL at someone mentioning Sean Miller. Why the heck would be leave Arizona for UL at this point. Only steps up he could take would be UK, Duke or KU. Maybe UNC after a decision is made on them. More likely if this all turns out how it looks it will to be an assistant or more unknown mid major. Greg Marshall and Archie Miller seem to be on a better trajectory.

i could give rp a pass on this if not for the alleged incidents to have been ongoing for four years. i can't believe a coach like him, who by all accounts, is a "micro-manager" could be blissfully ignorant of all the goings on in that span. ramsey gave jurich his complete vote of confidence at his presser, which i took as ramsey placing responsibility first and foremost on jurich. when and if push comes to shove and any heads roll, i think jurich's and pitino's roll first.

What has happened is the result of a society that has lost it's morals plain and simple. When you take away the one thing that reaffirms what's right and wrong in their conscious then the sins will rise to the top.
I'm sure Christians are aghast with this situation but others just think it's funny that they got busted.
I not only think it is bad for UL but also for the whole state as well. We are already consindered a backwards state and we don't own shoes and live in a trailor park and our 5***** restaurants is the local McDonalds. Now this just adds fuel to the fire of that "image". I wouldn't be surprised if the state authorities didn't become involved in this.
To have minors involved???? Sheesh

They need to start opening the good book up and replenishing that empty tank of morals and values.

It's possible to believe what UL did was wrong AND laugh at their pain for getting busted. There's no need to seperate people into groups. As far as outsiders perceptions of the state, I really don't care and this isn't going to change it.

This is bigger than just NCAA violations. This issue is something the common (non-sports nut) person can understand. And that is why this is not going away, regardless of specific facts. If even the gist of it is true, then Pitino is done, and maybe Jurich.

UL did nothing in the Pitino sex scandal (he should have been suspended without pay for a year at a minimum). They brought back philandering football coach, who broke conflict of interest laws at Arkansas.

So now this issues rises above anything specific to an NCAA allegation. And our current society is very intolerant of ethical issues at colleges, government, or businesses. With social media, your fate is generally determined in the first 24 hours of the news breaking. This is not your normal PR issue. All of these individual decisions UL have made, have conglomerated in the publics mind. They are a school that is dirty beyond NCAA compliance.

UL will throw Pitino under the bus (get rid of him), to try and stave off even more severe NCAA violations. If the NCAA won't agree to just Pitino, then Jurich is gone also. Cleaning house is the only way UL can avoid possibly the death penalty.

Oh I agree that it is funny that they did only because of how they act towards us as they are much better than us and how we cheat etc etc. It's them the whole time who is the cheaters. Yes I understand that. What I'm saying is that a lot of fans really don't see what is wrong with strippers, prostitutes etc they just think it's funny they got caught.
Yes it's ok to make light of the irony but it's also very sad to see the young men in this situation that they should have never been in and most of all those young girls who have been brought up to turn tricks.

You guys laugh, but one thing not mentioned is what if Tom Turtleneck bolts for Texas. He is the only reason Pitino is still there. If he goes to Texas, Pitino isn't long for Lousiville. I would hate for them to go get Sean Miller, but that's who they would shoot for.

I doubt Texas would touch Jurich with a 10 foot Texas sized pole at this point. I am sure Texas would go to the NCAA before even considering hiring him.

When you read this column and hear others talking about the culture that surrounds UofL athletics. This SCREAMS lack of institutional control. And that falls right into the lap of Tom Jurich & his fat face. He's the one that has allowed this gutter, filth to go on at Louisville and as a result he's the first one that needs to be fired.
