Besides outscoring M.

I have to think it starts with:
- Cam has 5-6+ threes
- Derrick gets 10+
- Caleb is Caleb on D
- Paul reverts back to mid season form
- Cliff gets his double double
- Hyatt hits a couple of threes
- Limit turnovers and win on the boards

Thoughts?

Gotta do a better job defending Bufkin and McDaniel. They're bad matchups against our slower-footed guards. And we need three point variance. We need to hit 8 of 20 while they make 4 of 25 or something. Otherwise I don't really know. These are two teams going opposite ways. Michigan has been playing really good ball since the beginning of January. We're backsliding.

Defense....1st thing 1st we need to, bare minimum, keep them under 1.00 PPP. This isn't about Caleb on D, it is about the entire team. Every guy on Michigan can beat us, but there is no one that necessarily is a guy that needs to be stopped.

Wisconsin lost because OSU picked on the weak link defensively. We can't have weak links.

Michigan has lost 4 of their last 7. Look at what other teams did to get open baskets and use that strategy

And REBOUND REBOUND REBOUND we’ve gone away from dominating the glass in the last couple games (Mag is a big reason to do with that) but when Cliff knocks the ball away we need our guards to get dirty and grab the loose balls

A lot depends on the three-ball--us making and them missing.

And Paul returning to form.

Yes agree with above, hit free throws and value the basketball. Don’t turn it over and hit the easy ones and we win.

Cam needs to get hot . Cliff needs to play Dickinson to a draw . Michigan has to beat itself . We need to hit free throws. We need good Hyatt.

This is a tall order

things can change on a dime

3 keys

#1 by far....do not turn the ball over
rebound
make free throws
Cliff needs to stay out of foul trouble
Pike has to ride starters 36 minutes at least..there is no tomorrow

RU does not shoot the ball well so that will not change. Need to value possessions and take advantage of any scoring opportunity like free throws or transition buckets or bunnies

its not impossible to win. While it seems like Michigan is playing at another level, that is why they play these games. The reality is Michigan is 17-14 and not 21-10 for a reason

Derrick Simpson is a key for today’s game I feel because of his speed

Cliff staying out of foul trouble is critical. We saw what happened when he went out last game against Michigan. Hunter stepped reiber alive and our leas disappeared

3 point variance in our favor as mentioned

Containing Michigan's guards

Dealing with ball pressure to initiate the offense

Movement on offense!

One of Paul or Simpson has to play well

Good Hyatt needs to make an appearance

hit free throws and Derek plays 20+ mins
Cam and Hyatt need to hit some threes
Don't take cliff out after 5 minutes so that Dickinson will dominate Reiber.

he was pretty bad last time they went right after him and he was turning it over..back to bench .

the guys on btn say it is has to be about Paul Mulcahy stepping up

Can't rely on Paul at this point in the season. Anything he gives is a bonus.

He ideally need a few weeks away from basketball.

Agreed!

Key is going to be when they go big both centers in the game what does Pike do! We can’t match up going big so I think we have to go small and press the centers when they try and handle in our 1-3-1 or diamond press. Get out in transition and run run run. Tire the big boys out and go to the rim. They will block shots but get them in foul trouble . I know it’s not our style but right not our style is broken

Last one. Limit turnovers. Rebound. Add get some turnovers and turn them into points.

We have to get stops and rebound to run. We are unable to run successful 2 on 1 or 3 on 2 fast breaks. We don’t even fill the lanes correctly. Anyway, if we get in a running game with Michigan, we’ll lose by 30. Way too athletic.
Fair point and I agree and do not want to run with them only when they go BIG with both centers in the floor at the same time. That lineup at the RAC killed us and are slow go with 10 sec on the shot clock feeds into helping them. There big guys can jog up court and rest on D while we hold the ball. Either you match their size or run them off the court. Can’t go traditional line up against that. So I agree 100 percent with you but maybe just for 3-5 min stretch to get those bigs tired and off the court. But definitely not all game

Did anyone guess holding Michigan to one made field goal for the first 19 minutes of the second half?
