Would State fans rather have
A. losing or 6-6 record but competitive against Top 10 opponents?
B. 7+ uncompetitive wins and loses, mailing it in in November and December?
C. A little of both

For those who chose A: see TSUN 2012 SOS

For those who chose B: Does anybody realize how close were were to losing our last 5? Thanks to UPig for playing to State's weaknesses in the second half.

i want 4 easy non conference wins as long as we have to play 3 top 10 BCS teams; and I want to win 3-5 SEC games a year

i don't care if it is 5 6 win SEC teams
or 5 0 win SEC teams

We need wins, it doesn't matter who the hell they are.

Consistency. I want to see a consistent, relentless effort, every snap, every game. I want to consistently go bowling, which means 6 wins minimum each year. We should be able to win 6-7 on that schedule, maybe more.

It makes a losing season salvageable and it makes a winning season that much better

Thread hijack: What would you take right now as a record for next season.

You offer me 7 wins next year I'm all over it. We better hope we figure **** out faster than Auburn and Arkansas because we'll be sitting home next year if we don't.

It indeed does that, but ...

if I had to choose between Alabama and Ole Miss as to which team to beat, I'd pick Alabama every time. Of course I live in Alabama and have to hear all about "Tide Pride" all the time, and don't have to put up with the OM crowd as most of you do. But I think any of us would agree that beating Alabama is much more meaningful from a quality of win standpoint, at any time, than beating Ole Miss.

It's going to get tougher and tougher to win in the SEC for all teams. For State...more wins on the upper side of five than on the lower side of six..on average.

^^^ What slickdawg said^^^ -----------with one caveat. I dont think JUST 6-7 wins a year is good enough. What I want to see is the 8-9 win seasons consistently and the occasional 10 win season, even a legitimate shot at 11 once in a while and competing for the SEC title, just not every 14 years. No reason we shouldnt at least be on par with SC and Ark and how many times has Ark been to Atlanta? More than State. 8 wins season are usually pretty acceptable at MSU, just not when you start 7-0 and are ranked as high as #11 or 13, whatever we were.

This is another thing I have always said as far as 5 year expectations...

1 non bowl season.
6-8 wins 3 seasons.
1 step up year with 9+ wins where we flirt with the SEC West in November.

If we can do that consistently, you can stay here forever.
