On field mistakes. He makes more than just about any coach I've ever seen. If you think he makes an 'average amount of mistakes' then you may need your eyes checked or you've seen a lot of bad coaching and not a lot of good coaching in your lifetime. Is the only football you watch Kentucky football? If so then I can understand why you say that.
Former player and athletic trainer. Have been on the sidelines for several prominent collegiate programs throughout the yrs. I watch any football game that I can.....whether college, pro, or even HS. I have a reputation for being one of the more knowledgeable about football on this site. So, yeah, I know more about football than most.
You have to separate the on-field mistakes. When a TO is called to ice our own kicker......when 10 seconds run off the clock before a TO is called.......then, yeah, it's Stoops' fault. When we run shotgun with Boom in the backfield sitting on the 3 yd line......that is NOT Stoops' fault. When Stoops decides to go for it on a 4th down and we call a bone head play, that's not completely Stoops' fault. When UL changes QB and we can't adjust to the scrambling......that mostly falls on the DC. Etc, etc.
So, yeah, Stoops has made a lot of mistakes.....even has cost us a game or two.......but it's not like other HC's haven't made similar mistakes in yr 3. Many have made worse and many have made fewer......
