Expect a good set of skills players, a decent line, and a 200 win coach with brass balls. Polk started the season running the wing t, won they're 1st 4 games, lost 3 in a row, then completely switched to the flexbone. I mean, new QB, the whole 9 yards. Almost beat Mountain Heritage the first week of running the flexbone, and haven't lost since, and are playing at a level not seen in Columbus since 2014. Had the Wolverines been running the new set, would have played Mitchell to the wire, and possibly beat the Mountaineers. A very dangerous team at the right time of the season, as they can switch offenses 180 degrees midgame.

Everything that was said was very true. Nothing fancy just very well coached kids that don't hurt themselves really. Because of the coaching staff able to make adjustments to how the game is going.

Interesting match up.

In 2006, their records were nearly identical. MA went to Polk County and won 15-8. The QB for Polk that year was the son of the coach, just like the QB for MA this year is the son of the coach. Just hope the script doesn't flip this year.

In my opinion, that win over Polk in 2006 was as big a win as any for MA in the past 15 years, including the 2008 championship. That was the win that pushed those younger classes (class of 08 and 09) to a higher level.

I was at that game , seth cooke was a heck of a player and a general for the Bears, they entered the playoffs un noticed, beat murphy on the road , then polk and south stanly before falling to benji browns thomasville bulldawgs. I think Seth was a real role model for that team . Those wheeler boys , man they were special, still to this day Luke Wheeler is TO ME the best high school player ive seen. Hard nosed, old school , hit you kinda player. Man he was fun to watch. Brother undersized but seen him run over kids twice his size . Man them boys were football players.

And thats the way it should be in the playoffs , like the new format, dont like the bye week, but at least it was good for the field with all the previous weeks rain. With soccer and football on the same field these days its easy to tear one up. Sloppy field kills speed and increases injury chances. Talking about soccer, man 10 /12 years ago we were going for two, now we kicking field goals from 42 yards out. Never thought i would see the day, all because of the influx of soccer players , pretty dog gone cool .

Robert Brown has kicked a 46 yard FG this year and a 43, 42 and etc. This season he is 11 of 15 in FGs and 64 of 65 in PATs with the only miss a block. A nice weapon to have for the Bears. He has 306 career kicking points (29 FGs 219 PATs) - good for 3rd place all time in NCHSAA history. He had a streak of 54 consecutive PATs stopped this year and is back on a 25 consecutive streak.

Can't say enough about this young man or the long snapper (Corbin Robertson) or the holder (Tanner Jackson).

Special teams make a difference especially in the playoffs.

I was asking a question if Polk County played Surry Central in the playoffs last year, I seem to think I might have been at that game. But that was a year ago and I don’t always remember.

Polk upset a highly ranked E.Surry team at E.Surry in the playoffs. Can't remember the year though. It shocked everyone.

We have 2 kickers this year. White kid from Afraica kicks XP and is only in 10th grade. The other is our FG kicker. The sophmore is very accurate
