When we lost our only d/lineman Lewis, then boom gets hurt
We need online. Cline sec types, a duell threat qb, air raid doesn't,,work in the sec
I left sat game mad, at what happen then realized we couldn't run the ball with Horton, Lou., pinned their ears back and came after our qbs we had no time to throw.
We knew before the season we had problems on o/line d/line and lbs, stayed that way all year.

It seems to me our offense strategy is too delicate to be successful. We seem so one dimensional in our approach. I never saw any adjustment by Dawson to deal with our OL problems that didn't cause just as big of a deficit somewhere else. For years I've watch other teams escape our defense by moving the pocket. UL use that to great advantage over the years against us yet we keep our QB planted behind center for easy target practice.

I don't know what routes our receivers were running against UL because the camera stayed on the backfield the entire game but I don't remember any quick throws so I question how long it took for plays to develop also.

Their are no on field adjustments that makes players stronger, quicker, and smarter.

The season went south around the time Boom was suspended. Players started mailing it in because they wanted to call the shots. Coaching staff capitulated instead of dealing with it. Barker got his chance and we all saw the results. Here we are, 5-7. Good luck dispensing any discipline in the future.

All of our seasons were doomed the minute we lined our sidelines with zero years of experience at each coaches respective position. It's one thing to have one coach getting broken in, it's another when the whole staff is cutting their teeth.

Great point that I haven't seen a lot of. Tough to learn on the job in the SEC.

The warning signs were there during the ULL game as they (ULL) almost came back on us. But, really and truly, the season started swirling the toilet bowl during the EKU game, with us eeeking out that OVERTIME win. I knew from that day....no, that moment, going forward, that UK was deep trouble and in for a long 2nd half.

Florida game. Gave everyone else the blueprint to stop our offense.rush four men against our piss poor line. Still get plenty of pressure, linebackers can pay it safe for run or pass. We hoped defense won every game after that.

It's also the reason we have to fire Schlarman and should fire Dawson. One caused a problem and one doesn't know how to work around it.

You can't reduce the season down to one moment , so many levels of fail .
In no certain order

QB play
Ol blocking
Wr catching
Special teams execution
Basic tackling
Disorganization on the field
De getting sucked in on reads , allowing plays to bounce outside or containment issues
Scheme execution on both sides
Clock management
Play calling
Feuding in the locker room
Discipline issues , example throwing ball in stands is just one of many
Rb unhappy for a day
There's more but that's the gist of it

Actually I'm encouraged , we won five amidst that ish storm of dysfunction .

Unless Stoops dismisses his top 2 offensive players for their selfish and childish behavior expect more of the same.

I don't think Stoops has a clue how to get out of this hole he's put himself in, the players quit on Towles and locker room split, that's a damning indictment for a head coach, he didn't have the balls to make the tough decision

Not true. Javis Blue, Demarco Robinson, Darrien Miller, and Braylon Heard were bigger pieces than people want to believe. They provided some much needed ON the FIELD leadership that Towles was unable to bring. That is a big piece of the puzzle that many don't look at. You have to have player leadership as much as coaching leadership. Also, changing OCs and starting over again slows development in many cases.

I was a Stoops supporter, thought he was a good hire because of his pedigree, and really liked who he was recruiting. He and his assistants were working hard.
I changed my opinion when I saw him continually make mistakes during the games. Not having enough players on the field, wrong timeouts, etc. I felt that the game was moving to fast for him. Maybe he was trying to micro manage it to much, instead of letting the assistants do their job.
Can he turn it around, I hope so, but I don't believe he can. I think he will get two more years and then be gone. I truly hope I'm wrong.

oh i remember it well! and it was awful. my point is, THAT PLAY just showed how incompetent this staff really is and i feel after THAT play the players lost all faith in this staff

time leading up to the EKU game. That was the time Boom was babied into rejoining the team after his pouting quit during Mizzou, and also when Stoops in a dumb rookie young coach mistake promised on Monday that Barker would play. Sent the message to the team this was an easy easy game, don't work hard or prepare seriously. Then the game starts and EKU is inspired by the slight from Stoops as well as the death of a teammate and punches UK in the mouth over & over & over again. As a result Stoops has to break the public promise he made to the public & the team that Barker would play.

Those events shattered the locker room & it only got worse

If any college coach had as many problems as X listed, he'd be fired regardless of location and level of competition. HS coaches don't survive that list.

Very good point. That was the turning point THIS season.

I think the turning point for Stoops tenure was when he self suspended Baker for a clean, vicious block. He lost the players and still hasnt regained them imo.

I quit caring when I turned off the Miss State game at the end of the 3rd quarter, looked like we had never scouted Miss State at all, let Prescott run and throw at will, and they turned out to be about an average SEC team, that lost 15 starters from the 2014 Orange Bowl team. I knew then that 6-6 was about all I could hope for. Really, it was then that I realized the whole damn season turned on whether or not we could beat a pitiful Vandy team, which sort of tells you where your program is, i.e., if the whole year depends on whether you can beat a team almost completely without an offense, that mean you have a whole lot of problems.

Except that most of what has been written in this thread is conjuncture and guesses. Stoops has his warts, but your statement is ridiculous and ignores proven data. Cutcliffe at Duke is a perfect example, and there are others, of coaches who struggled mightily but turned it around.

UK fans have a case of caviar dreams and a spam budget (not budget in the literal sense). It's very similar to Ark basketball fans on a different level. It will take time to build this program.

It's very simple. The season turned after the loss to Auburn.

Now, the seeds for the disaster to follow were planted before that game, but it is the turning point in which the teams collectively delicate balance of effort, discipline and confidence disappeared.

My personal opinion is that the breaking point was inevitable to happen during the season. It was just a question of when. This group is weak mentally and I'm including the coaching staff. Actually, I blame the staff more than the players because those guys are charged with constructing a winning climate amongst the 85+ players on the roster.

The biggest chemistry killer is losing and it acts as the incendiary device to ignite any issues that might exist within that locker room. The larger the issues, the larger the flame and we got a massive explosion.

The season went south when our schedule got tougher, the way most of predicted it would go. Short of losing to Vandy nothing unexpectedly bad happened.
