When will the West win?

Doing research I have noticed that the West has not won the 1AA State Championship since Swain County did it in 2011. Just look at the matchups in the past.

2011: Swain County def. Ayden-Grifton
2012: Southwest Onslow def. Swain County
2013: Warsaw James Kenan def. West Montgomery
2014: Wallace-Rose Hill def. Starmount
2015: Wallace-Rose Hill def. Mitchell
2016: Wallace-Rose Hill def. West Montgomery
2017: Tarboro def. Mount Airy
2018: Tarboro def. East Surry


I hear a lot of people say that western football is the best in the state, but lately, for 1AA it doesn't seem to be the case.

When will the west win 1AA?

Alright BK how did you get into nole's account, I know this ain't one of murphy's finest complaining about Tarboro,Mt Ariey, East Surry and Mitchell all playing down a classification like they do.

The west is even more dominant when you look at a map and see how many of the top “eastern” teams are in the western part of the state.

It’s not East vs West by center of the state. Look at how many new schools are being built and where they are at. It’s East vs West when the playoffs are drawn. Yes the West is usually better. But wherever programs like Tarboro, WRH, Havelock Wake Forest play they will usually compete very well.

Tarboro is so good they would win the 2a title and probably should be in 2a, but they play where the state puts them. No complaints from me. But then I’m not a crybaby like some on here (not naming any names).

Well unless some unforeseen economic boom comes to Mitchell county (the only thing we have left here is the stuff that can't be shipped overseas, mining & tourism. About the only people moving in is ones retiring to the mountains) you won't see Mitchell high with enough kids to move up to 1AA we have been going down in students for 30+ years ,in just the last 10 years have gone from 4 middle schools too 2 too 1, the county just got a grant to build the new middle school below the high school, the middle school football teams already combined this past year.

Well if you have a lot of terrorism over there, that could explain why the population is dropping... Just giving you a hard time. I know you meant tourism.
