He does seem a bit too passive and analytical in his approach. Another poster (a HS coach) mentioned that Flood generates no excitement and, from everything I've seen, I think that's probably true. Maintaining an even keel is a good thing, but it can be overdone. Sometimes, the coach needs to rant and rave a little.

Flood's perfect role is to work for a disciplinarian. Bad cop good cop - he's the good cop. He is who the players went to after they got reamed by Schiano. A shoulder to cry on. THAT is what he is good at. That's what happened in 2005. The talent was there - they just needed some positive reinforcement - Flood was what was needed for that group at that time.
He'll get a local (NJ or back on Long Island) HS head coach job, be fortunate enough to have the next Peyton Manning, John Elway, etc. type of can't miss prospect come through and steer him towards and then, in the end, away from Rutgers out of spite. Because that would be par for the course around here.
Although he is not a good recruiter someone will hire him(position coach) as he can get a program in the door of most, if not all, New Jersey high schools and as fertile as NJ is that is a valuable commodity. He'll open the door and then the school will send in the closer to seal the deal.

Some people honestly have no concept of how over matched he is as a head coach.
Sorry, a 4 way tie is not considered a conference championship to pretty much post people hiring.
It was a good season, but you can't sell it as a championship.

If he wants to try to continue to be a head coach, I could see him at a D-3 school or at a high school somewhere.
If he'd be willing to go back to being a position coach, then some D-1 team might take him on.

It goes with the territory. It didn't bother anyone firing me, simply because I wasn't wanted any longer, that I had 4 children to support either.
He also has a few million in the bank, something many of us who have lost our jobs in the past,who may it mr may not have families, don't have the luxury of saying. Si, please,give me a break with this nonsense.
people may make business decisions to cut back, but, you probably won't have HR people or non-employees gloating and laughing. I have seen the opposite, people with tears in their eyes.

The original Browns had already been wrapped up in Cleveland by time BB was fired. I'm a Browns fan and can assure you that Bill was the last thing on our minds in 1995. By the way, the Browns came off a playoff season in 94 and had super bowl aspirations in 95 when Modell announced the move. The Browns only won 1 more game after the announcement.

Can't speak for anything said by others, but my post was serious. KF hasn't shown he has D-1 head coaching ability. If he wants to try to continue in a head coaching capacity, those are the levels I feel he's shown he's suited for, (presently anyway). -But as I also said, I could see him catching on at a D-1 school as a position coach.
But no matter what anyone wishes for Flood after he's gone, (and I have nothing against him personally, I simply think he's unqualified and lost as a P5/D1 head coach), where KF lands, whether it's in a great spot or not so much, is ultimately up to him.

No prob. -And hey, I'd wish him good luck too, and would hope that he would end up as a position coach at a D-1 school. In fact, I think that would be a very possible scenario.

He'll be fine. He has enough money that he can basically do whatever he wants for the rest of his life. Go around and hold coaching clinics, consult for teams, take a teaching job, go coach a low level school for much less money.
His last 4 years of salary is much more than most people make in their entire lives (not to mention an pretty good salary for years before that), and he has stayed in the same low cost house in the same blue collar town. He's going to be just fine.
FYI - Talking about Public Employee Retirement System - public higher education in NJ (unless you were hired in the early 1970's) does not participate in PERS. Many are in a higher ed system that is applicable throughout the country. I would guess that it is almost universal. Guessing that a majority are in TIAA or CREF (don't worry about the exact names) or a competitor.
Wishing someone "good luck," is one thing, giving 2 ***** about where he lands, when he's got millions in the bank, is a completely different story. I wish him luck, absolutely, but I couldn't really give a damn where the guy lands.
And your opinion on the subject should be considered more valid than everyone else's based on which of your many impressive and relevant qualifications?
I hear you. While I'm not particularly invested in it, I hope he does well simply because I believe he did his best for the program and for the players in the program. I bear no ill will towards the man at all.
