If Paul was really angry with the fans he will want to come back and show them what they lost as a player. There are three Big teams that are rumored to have interest in him; Iowa, Illinois, and Michigan. Were he to end up in Iowa especially, or Michigan; anger with the fan base would be confirmed.

His style of play doesn’t fit any of those teams. Too much slow, bully ball.

If he has coaching aspirations, he may also be coaching-style-shopping to see if he can learn from someone with a different (and successful) approach... which would rule out Michigan, lol
Yeah he's not spending his last year of eligibility playing for Julost freaking Howard.

If he ends up at ANY B1G team, the sound of the jeers & boos when he returns to JMA will likely finally cause the roof to collapse.

Like I have posted before , I don’t believe a rutgers graduate has ever been booed in the rac. In the days of NIL and the portal, that day will come . Sad situation to boo one of your own fellow alums , but this is the way it’s gonna be.

He will go to the best spot for him. He’s not trying to get back at anyone. This board always finds new ways to amaze me.

Notre Dame seems like a good fit given how Shrewsbury utilized Pickett. No, Paul is not the same talent — but there are similarities in that they’re both big lead guards who lack elite athleticism but look to back down smaller guards and initiate offense out of the post

Paul, much like Cam, is not so much that he left, but how he left. Go chase the money, but don't expect a warm welcome when you come back.

Exactly this. Every situation is different. For instance Myles left in his graduate year to pretty much a standing O on his return to the RAC a year later.

EO and Paul were both team captains and essentially left RU in a way that put the team in a bind from a roster perspective. Although Eugene was not a grad transfer, he announced in late May and similar to Paul, does not leave Pike or the team with many options to fill the hole. Whether Paul is chasing money or a dream, he could have announced it much earlier. My guess is fanbase would have been much more forgiving on his longer term legacy in that case.

PS....I have no strong feelings regarding Cam. View him as a mercenary.

with unfettered free agency and kids going to the highest bidder - times have changed. they wanted to be pros - they're going to be treated like pros. particularly by the students and the young adults in the crowd.

and while I personally wont boo (at least not too demonstrably...LOL...as I STILL feel weired booing a "kid") I will NOT feel bad for Paul (he will have brought upon himself)

oh absolutely. if he had announced right away I think the OVERWHELMING response would have been to wish him well (just like Myles). and his legacy would not be tarnished (like Myles). but the timing is really really bad.
