I know Holder personally... not only does he look like Kenny Powers, he's got the real life "17 you" attitude that accompanies it. I could see him doing it.
For the record I'm all for pitching mentalities being a real thing, but didn't someone start their closer and relieve him with his ace this weekend? That sounds brilliant if it worked. The point is the best players want the ball when the game is on the line, and you've got to give it to them in whatever way possible.
At one point or another every pitcher on staff has started a high school game. They've all been there in the not-so-distant past. It's not a foreign concept to them. If we were sending in Holder for a 9 inning game, I could see it being a distraction, but he was there tonight and he saw Rea hit a bomb, he warmed up in the bullpen, and he knows that the entire fan base is pulling for him for just TWO innings. That's closer pressure that closers live on.
