Who else is not convinced HCKF will be fired?

I think the inevitable firing is a figment of our imagination. Would not be at all surprised if he is here next year. Sure hope not, but not buying this is a done deal.

I still think it's about 60/40 he is retained one final year. Obviously, the outcome of the investigation could greatly impact my thinking on it.

Count me as skeptical, this is RU after all. Guess it depends on what is in that report.

Flood knows he is gone. His agent does too. You can guarantee he knows already.

I think they intend to squeeze one more year out of Flood. Was somewhat hopeful until he was issued is discipline. Think that's gonna be it until the end of next season

Not me. RU lost to 5 top current 25 teams plus PSU and Nebraska. Not good enough, but not unexpected for where the program is this year. Nothing I've heard from Barchi suggests he is in a rush to have a top team. I suspect the current chatter is being allowed to play out to calm the mob.

If he beats Army and Maryland he's not going any where any time soon. If he finishes 7-5 next year which I believe he will count on him staying period. If he loses either the Army or Maryland game he's gone. I believe that Barchi is pressuring Herman to see if Donors are willing to pony up the cash for a new coach and so far the answer is no.

Will be many people on here with egg on their faces if he stays.
Why? Do you think that he becomes any more competent if he wins out? Or, if the players remain upstanding citizens, he somehow develops a moral compass?
If he should be kept on for another year, the axe falls clearly on the administration. That's all. We the Alumnus/Fan base should continue to do all we can to show our displeasure. But, "egg" on our faces, sorry I don't care what the guy does or doesn't do over the next few weeks, he is not anybody I want representing my University or Football Program.

I will pack it in and boycott ru football if he is retained. With that said, I am highly doubtful he is fired. Our donors and administration just can't get it done.

Oh I can't wait to bump this post after the Maryland game...

This isn't about what we *want* to happen or think *should* happen, but what we think *will* happen. Those are very different things.

Why would Coach Flood get fired? Losing to top teams isn't going to get him fired. He already paid the price for the student grade scandal. I think he plays out his contract. That gives the administration more time to find a new coach and evaluate how Coach Flood does next year. With this year's vacancy glut, schools will have bidding wars against each other for top coaches. Rutgers would not win a bidding war and would not get a top coach.

I don't want Flood to stay one more day, but I have a bad feeling that Rutgers will caulk this up and keep him for one more season.

Saying he will stay doesn't mean people want him to it means people have little confidence in the administration.

Why do board members love attacking each other?

You are confusing what people are predicting and what they may want to happen

No need to save this thread..... Look for a fight some place else

Sorry Wheezer, but you are not being exactly truthful, now are you? As a fan base that is fed up with Floods deficiencies, there should not be an option! Predicting he comes back, because of WHATEVER reason, is a sign of complacency. And, really a losers mentality. Once you accept, you become part of the problem. If you really, I mean really care about this program, the athletes and the reputation of Rutgers University, then the fight should never end with any result, other than the removal of Flood from anything associated with Rutgers University!
Afterall Wheezer, with that handle, you should remember when people actually protested, and fought for things they believed in. Or has time passed you by......

Again, as with the rest, once you say that "Saying he will stay" is an affirmation of defeat, which I will not accept. We(Alumnus/Fans) do have a say, power(if you believe $$$ has power), and the right not accept the same ol, same ol. If you say "he will stay" is a form of acceptance or defeat. Just not in my DNA.

Let me make my position a bit clearer for you..... If we could make a big time hire, I would be thrilled with a new coach.....

However, if Flood wins the last two I think the university keeps Flood on.... This does not reflect complacency on my part, but a PREDICTION of what the school will do

Understand the difference...

I could turn around and ask you, do you THINK he will be fired if we win the last two?.... Don't be too sure either way

Another thing I thought of, which reflects the state of the budget, is that Flood didn't hire a top notch OC. He did it in the past how come he didn't do it this year? Must be because he didn't have the funds.

Or no one worth the price of admission would want to work under Mr. Flood. I'm not worth any admission price, but if offered the job I would never work for that man. But, that's me.

I don't know. I'm kinda resigned to the fact that he'll be back next year. I guess that way I'll at least be happy if he is gone.

They had the funds for a DC, but Smith didn't want to come coach here. The most likely scenario (IMO) is that a very well qualified OC doesn't want to come coach under a guy who is less qualified than he is. Fridge was a very special case and there simply aren't high level OCs who want to come to coach for a team with questionable talent under a HC with a questionable resume. They have better options, and safer options for their career.
